I have an 11yr old female Maine Coon, recently 10/18/06 I lost my other cat to cancer. Now this one she smells of urine which she has a lot of fur yes but it's not like her to smell so badly. I'm concerned because I know smell like this can be a sign of a serious health problem and I also know it's not uncommon when you have had 2 animals who've been together for so long if one dies for the other one to shortly follow. I'm calling her vet tomorrow, but I want to try to get an idea of what to expect.
She smells of cat urine real strong,
she purrs more then usual,
she normally hides under the bed and is little miss independant and she's not been doing that she's been out in the open and been staying closer to me then she used to. This has all been going on since the loss of her brother.

This small kitten, I'd say 12 weeks, only weighing 1.3-1.6 pounds, severly underweight. She has a few flee's and I'm giving her medicin right now, and her gums are really faint. I'm taking her to a vet right now, but I have a kitten of my own and 5 other animals. I don't want them to get sick, but I won't harm or necled this poor little sweet heart either, and the vet won't take her.. What should I do?

We're moving into a house with a cat. We have a cat. We've let our cat and the house cat both sniff around without seeing eachother. Yesterday we, briefly, introduced them. The cat of the house seemed timid, afraid and mewed. My cat growled and hissed. Should we keep trying at once a day intervals?

Basically we've been supervising them as they are in a common area. We don't force them together.

My cat is 6 yrs old and weighs about 14 pounds. She is a tabby. We tried feeding her different food and doesn't work plus our dogs ate it. Anything like excercise or games to play with her?

Were there small breeds of wild cat before humans started to keep them as pets. I know that there are wild cats in many mountainous regions around the world, which are a lot smaller than most of the big cats (Lions, Tigers etc.) but even they are considerably bigger than domestic breeds.
The ancient Egyptians kept cats which according to their art were the same size as the cats we know today, so when did people start keeping them and what sort of cat was first domesticated?

Nature has it's way of doing things and they meet. We thought okay kittens but a day later my cat is really sick. Could she feel like she was raped or is something else going on?

My 10-yr old male cat, who's on the Iams Adult 1+ Light likes to eat our new male kitten (3 1/2 months)'s food. This doesn't surprise me b/c kitten food is higher in fat and protein, and probably tastes a lot better. What surprises me is the kitten preferring to eat the diet food! He's very young, and needs all the good fat and nutrition in the kitten food. At meals times I feed them in separate areas, but b/c the kitten is eating the diet dry food through out the day, he usually doesn't eat enough of the kitten food at meal times. How can I stop my kitten from eating the diet food? Because the older cat eats a little of his food throughout the day, I can't take the food away from him after his initial feeding. I would prefer not to have to separate them during the day when both my husband & I are at work, so they can keep each other company.

is calling and she got out of the house a few days ago and only came home after 48 hours. Do you think she could be pregnant and how would i know if she is. I would not like the her to get done if she is pregnant, she is 2 years old. If she is pregnant do you think this is too young for her to have kittens. She was about to get done but did a runner so i had to cancel it, i really dont know what to do now. I love my cat dearly but dont want her to be at any risk if she is pregnant if she is too young.
Any help would be greatful, please dont be horrible.
Thank you.

This is baffeling to me, because for long stretches of time she will go in the cat box. She had a litter of kittens about 6 weeks ago. She isn't teaching the kittens to go in the cat box either. WHY? If we can't solve the problem we will have to get rid of her. Any suggestions ?

My new cat who adopted my son & I is fairly large & long (he's 2-3 yrs. old), mostly black, some white, has green eyes, long thin tail, larger ears than my tabby had. His face is more square than pointed like a Siamese. But he's a non-stop talker (& yowler, especially when he wants to go out-but waits for me to go w/him). He growls like a dog when hearing noises near the house. He's very dedicated & wants to be near me almost all the time. He'll sit & stay when I ask. Also, why does he knead & stick his nose into things he likes, like stuffed toys & blankets? When I imitate a bird - 2 whistles, he nudges me & meows back 3 "syllables", a bit bothered. I'd love to receive as much input as possible. I have some photos as well. Both my son & I love him to pieces & we know he feels the same towards us. Thanks a lot!
