My 11 year old cat won't pee in his box anymore. He pees anywhere he wants whether it's on furniture or the floor. It doesn't seem to do anything if I discipline him. It started when we accidentally closed the door one day where his litter box is and he couldn't get to it. He therefore peed wherever he could and now won't pee in the box anymore. He's a wonderful cat and never messed in the house before. Is it possible to retrain a cat to use their litter?

I have three cats. Two are brother and sister orange kitties and the other isn't related (she's black and white) . The one who is not related is really obese. The cats are half indoor half outdoor (they like to play outside for a few hours but stay inside most). The black and white cat doesn't really run or exercise a lot. if she's inside she will lay in one spot the entire day. We feed the cats in one room because sometimes one of them will be left outside and we don't want to forget to feed that one. The two orange cats will eat a little bit of their food and run off. The black and white cat will eat all of her food and then the other cats' leftovers. I'm not sure what I can do to help the overweight loose weight. The vet hasn't really reccomended anything.

ok this is what happened.
yesterday my mom stepped on my one cats (tiger) foot. she didn't see him hiding and was just tring to move out of my way. any way the cat did its cry and started to run off. my one dog (the mother of the pets) went to check on him and he started to hiss and attack her. so i grabbed her and pull her away. well at that point my other cat came in to the living room to see what was up. then tiger attacked HIM! so we broke it up. i put tiger in my room to give them space and lightly tapped him on the nose for attacking the other cat. i let him out later and he was doing ok. he was outside my door an di was starting to walk down the hall to open my door for him. the other cat (midnight) was sniffing the litter box. which is right outside my door. tiger just all of a sudden turns around and attacks him again! so in my room again he went. later i tired one more time to see if they both cooled down before bed. they were doing ok. so i helped mom with bringing in..

Note that the cat was first in the household and then came the dog. The dog was patient with the cat in the beginning but now is fed up with the cat's hissing and clawing. How do I introduce them without them killing each other? Thanks in advance to anyone with answers.

on carpet, getting the smell out? The former owner's cats must have urinated on the stairwell carpet at one point in time since it smells strong like chlorine, though the rest of the fam doesn't seem to notice. It bugs me though. Anyone know of products that will get the smell out? Urine Gone - is that a good one, the one with the back light?

My cat was just recently neutered, but had a traumatic experience- the vet said he would not hold still & was jumping all around (he ended up breaking a couple of his own nails). Now I'm feeling like it's my fault I took him in the first place, & didn't just leaved him unfixed. I love the way he would act like a dog & go after anyone if they bothered me. Will he still have this same instinct, or is it lost? I always wonder if the animal hates the owner or remembers what was done? Also, will the nails grow back- I hope so becuase as of now they still look sore. Thank you! (Would be great if you can answer all the above questions esp. if had experience with this)

I just got 2 semi wild cats last Thur, they are 8mths old. I have been told to keep them in for 3 weeks so they know this is their new home! I have them outside in the boiler house but the problem is that everytime I go in to feed them, they hear me comin and scatter to hide! I try not to make loud noises and just gently put down their food and water. I dont want to go moving the things they are hiding behind as i feel it may scare them more. How can i make them more social ?? Also im worried that after the 3 weeks i may leave them out and never see them again!! I plan on putting a catflap in the door for them.

She isn't sick and she'll nibble a little bit but the only way to get her to really eat is to sit there with her and pet her. Any suggestions?

They were born in our house and have lived there ever since. They hardly come out from under the sofa, so they have never been to the vet. They only take their mother's milk, and she hasnt been to the vet either.

I'm about to embark on the journey from hell, carrying a suitcase, laptop and bag full of presents, along with my kitten from London to Bristol. I have an 'over the shoulder' pet carrier thing, and plan to get a taxi to the station then a 1.45h train journey. He's a very bold cat and not timid at all, but i'm nervous he's going to poo/wee en route. What do i do if he does? Any tips?? And what do i do if he freaks out?

My cat's meow has totally changed in the last couple days. He sounds like some sort of stray alley cat now. He's an older cat, about three 3yrs so I know it's not due to growth. He has always been a chewer (chews on almost everything) since he was a kitten... So maybe dental? He seems perfectly healthy and playful othwerwise....any ideas?

We are going to my parents for Christmas and are bringing our two cats. My parents have a cat also and just in the last week their cat has become sick. She's lethargic and vomiting. I've asked them to bring her to the vet but they haven't yet. My question is this: Will my cats be ok if their cat is sick? Could it be something that their cat could pass on to mine? Thanks in advance. :)

He wants to breed her when she is older. Is there anything that the vet can give her, to calm her down, or would that be mean? She is an indoor kitty with two other spaded cats so there is no danger of her becoming pregnant, but he thinks she in in much stress over this. Has anyone had a situation like this with a kitten?

My male cat has always sucked his tail and I can never figure out why he does this. He's been doing this since he was a kitten and now he is 4 years old. What prompts this and is it normal? My vet doesn't seem to know the answer other than that perhaps he wasn't properly 'weened' off of his mother's milk which is why he sucks his tail and 'kneeds' with his paws.
It is the funny, yet weirdest thing I've ever seen!

My cat is 10 months old. I adopted her at the humane society when she was 5 months old and she had an URI. They told me it was just a cold! I got her spayed last week and a couple of days after she started sneezing! Over the weekend she got worse, sneezing really bad and watery eyes. Monday morning I took her back to the vet, he gave her antibiotics! Each time I take her to the vet, the stress makes her worse! It's her 2nd day on antibiotics. How long does it take for her to start getting better? She doesn't eat much but she drinks a lot of water. I can't afford to have her on fluids and I don't want to take her back to the vet because it makes her worse!! Will she get better soon because I'm afraid that she's gonna die because of this and I can't loose her, she's my baby and I couldn't take it if she died!! Please someone tell me she won't die??? She will get better, won't she?? Help!!!
