My cat is 10 months old. I adopted her at the humane society when she was 5 months old and she had an URI. They told me it was just a cold! I got her spayed last week and a couple of days after she started sneezing! Over the weekend she got worse, sneezing really bad and watery eyes. Monday morning I took her back to the vet, he gave her antibiotics! Each time I take her to the vet, the stress makes her worse! It's her 2nd day on antibiotics. How long does it take for her to start getting better? She doesn't eat much but she drinks a lot of water. I can't afford to have her on fluids and I don't want to take her back to the vet because it makes her worse!! Will she get better soon because I'm afraid that she's gonna die because of this and I can't loose her, she's my baby and I couldn't take it if she died!! Please someone tell me she won't die??? She will get better, won't she?? Help!!!

I'm sorry to hear your kitty is sick. I think you should give the antibiotics a few more days to really work. I know you love her and feel helpless right now, but I hope things work out for you and she gets well real soon. My cat was attacked by a dog earlier this year and came in with a gaping hole in her side. We took her to the vet and he stapled her wound and also gave her antibiotics for a week. She wasn't fully healed and had to go back for a second round of antibiotics. That did the trick. She also wouldn't eat for a few days right after it happened and I had to get water down her with a eye dropper. She is fine now and back to her funny, silly and sometimes rotten little self, lol. Just keep an eye on your kitty and give her all the water, food, rest and love she will tolerate. If you think she is getting worse, don't hesitate to call the vet or take her in to his office. You will not be bothering them. It's their job! I hope your little darling gets better soon, and try not to worry too much or you will make yourself sick as well. Good luck to you!!!

Give the antibiotics some time to work. I had a cat that I thought was dying. My aunt is a vet, and when i saw that he wasnt eating or anything I called her. I took him to the vet as an emergency, and it was a URI. He was 1 y/o at the time. They gave him a shot and gave me some pills to give him, they also gave me some biactin (sp?) which is this gooey stuff that ferrets really like, it was to give him back the vitamins that he was losing b/c he wasnt eating. I had to force feed him this, and his medicine. But with a few days, he was getting better.

It takes time, dont worry, vets know what they are doing, and if there wasnt fluid in the lungs, then your baby should be fine. She is still young, so you need to keep a good eye on her. Give her time though.

There may be a possibility that your kitten has allergies. Other things to consider are that your kitten has an infection (thus the antibiotics) or a virus (antibiotics will not help a virus). Keep in mind that you got your kitten from a "shelter-type" environment, where other animals may have also been ill. Your kitten's resistance is not yet at the level it needs to be to fight infection. One extreme possibility is that she has FIV (feline HIV). You may want to consider another vet or a specialist. Depending on where you live, some universities have great animal hospitals where extensive research is undertaken. Some of these institutions may examine your kitten for little or no cost in order to study her illness. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you, and DON'T GIVE UP ON HER!

okay, just chill out. Give her a couple days. maybe some soft food? or milk? and keep up with the medicine. you should start seeing improvements soon. She might have picked up something (a virus or something) when you had her spayed. also, make sure you're not using some new chemicals near the floor where she breaths them in. If you are using any carpet powders, or mopping with a strong chemical, this can affect her breathing. good luck to you. It is very difficult having a sick animal. It is so hard to know what to do. I have lost one to illness before, and it just broke my heart. I hope that she gets better. But know that you are doing all you can.

Listen, I'm not a cat expert, but I am a cat lover, like you. However, you do have to trust your vet. Believe me, I would die if one of my two cats died, but I have a feeling yours might not. Your vet said he thinks she has a cold, so maybe you should just believe him and calm down. You also said that he said his lungs are fine, so it looks like she's getting better. I think you should just wait it out, since you already have medication on her, I think she'll get better and I hope she does, too.

try gatorade, chicken broth(warmed up), boil some chicken breast or burger and drain off the grease and add some white rice to it... this might help stimulate her appetite... sounds like she should be ok if she is on the antibiotics... just keep tempting her with foods and tons of fluids... do the broth..dont do milk unless its for cats, you can get thatat the pet store, most cats are lactose intolerant...the antiobiotics might be upsetting her stomache but a bland diet might help... you can also get baby food (make sure it does not have onion in it) and warm that up too.....another thing that might help is to run a humidifyer, just dont run it right by her, put it on the other side of the room and keep a hot water bottle uder her or a heating pad on very low ... it will be fine......smile ....good luck
