Are you in charge of feeding it and cleaning the litterbox? You can show up with treats and give them to the cat to make it feel comfortable. Or just give it space and leave it alone when you visit. Or try to pet it and pay attention to it. Depends on the cat and how it is with strange people.

The cat will probably just hide if people are there working on the house.... Good luck.

The cat should be in the quietest place you can find in your aunt's house and not be allowed outside until your aunt returns. It might be best if you could take the cat into your house and also have it in a small space for the duration of the construction. That would depend on if you have cats in your own home and cannot take the cat in.

The situation will be very upsetting for the cat so do the best you can to reduce its stress from the noise and the absence of the cat's usual person.

I've actually left my cat alone for a week and he was fine. I just made sure I put things away that I knew he'd get into and made sure I left his water and food cooler bottles completely filled. Those items come in handy. But other than that, most cats will hide when they hear noises that they aren't comfortable with and he will come out when he wants to eat and use the litter. Unless the workers will be in and out of the apartment, I'd say if you kept him in a room, like bedroom, put his food and litter in there and locked the door, he should be okay. Though he might get a little stir crazy after a while from being couped up in the room the whole time. :(

The cat will deal with it's fear by hiding. I know you'll want to comfort the cat but don't try to take it out of it's hiding place when you're taking care of it. Just let it hide and leave the food where it can get it. (leave it in the normal place if the cat can still wander through the whole apartment... if it's confined to just one room, leave it near the place where the cat is hiding.)

My cat lived under our bed for a week after we moved to our new home. We left him alone and kept moving his food further away each day until he was comfortable again. He got over it with no problem and your aunt's cat will too :)

It's great that your aunt and the cat has someone like you thinking about them!
