on carpet, getting the smell out? The former owner's cats must have urinated on the stairwell carpet at one point in time since it smells strong like chlorine, though the rest of the fam doesn't seem to notice. It bugs me though. Anyone know of products that will get the smell out? Urine Gone - is that a good one, the one with the back light?

Hi Laura...consider Nature's Miracle Just for Cats found worldwide at most pet stores. It's an enzymatic neutralizer which works by breaking down urine proteins by thoroughly soaking the areas affected and allowing to air dry. Repeated applications are necessary for heavily soiled areas.

Urine Gone is GREAT! With a new puppy and a cat with a nervous bladder, it has saved the carpet in my new house. I've heard Nature's Miracle is good too but have never used it.

You can try vinagar, or believe it or not, Resove triple action carpet cleaner spray. I used that when I found out three days later that my cat had peed and pooped in my sons room, and it works great. Hope this helps.

I have used "Nature's Miracle" in a house that was abandoned and infested with cats. It did the job very well.
