This morning my sister traumatized my kitten by spraying water at her stomach (when she didn't do anything wrong), swinging a metal chain at her and picking her up then dropping her on the ground deliberately. For the past 4 hours my kitten has been extremely scared and even jumped a mile in the air when I tried to stroke her back to calm her. I've already confined her to a room so my sister can't get to her, but what else can I do to make her feel better?? She's only 11 weeks old as well.

I got my cat last year and he's a year and a half. I'm going up north for the holidays and it's very hard for me to find someone to take care of him. If I left him plenty of litter and 2 bowls of food and 2 bowls of water what is the most amount of time I could be away?

My mother in law lives next door to me and has a cat collection (40+ and counting!) I dont have a problem with her cats but they come up on my front porch and pee on everything! even my front door... YUCK!

I cant stand the smell anymore... Whats getting even worse is that I have two indoor cats that have started peeing in front of the the door on the inside. I've tried all of the urine be gone products and such with no luck so far.
Can anyone tell me if there is something that I can spray on the porch and surounding area to just keep the cats away?

Kitty abandoned does not want to be caught. I am cautious about grabbing a scared animal. If I had protective gear I would. I don't have a person to help me with the capture. Kitty gets close but runs away when I get near. It is yowling and does not appear to like kitty food or kitty milk. Looks healthy maybe just weaned. I called the humane society and they told me to open a small room for the kitty to enter.

Her cat can't go outside because there is a road right there. Her cat cannot wear a collar, though. Everytime someone comes into the house the cat dashes outside and we are scared that something bad might happen. What are some possiblities that could help. An electric collar won't work because it is a little cruel and the cat can't wear a collar. My Aunt has already tried going in different doors. That does not work. My Aunt also cannot use a baby gate because she can't get over the gate. Just trying to stop the cat does not work either. If you have ANY ideas, please submit them. We are open to ANYTHING!

I have 3 cats and love them all of course. I consider them my kids, but I hate to admit that I do have a favorite. This probably sounds stupid, but I don't want the other 2 to sense that and I have heard of animals that have depression. Does anyone know if they can sense things like that? I know their brains aren't like humans, but they're still pretty smart.

We have one of those perches that is covered in carpeting except for the almost vertical support post, which is covered in sisel rope. Unfortunately, our cat only claws at the carpeted part, and never the rope. (Thankfully, she never claws the furniture.) I've tried putting catnip in the rope and playing with toys around the rope, but she just doesn't seem interested. Won't go for those cardboard scratching posts either.

I think my kitty is now in early labor. She has nested in the closet and I have put a blankie in there with a heating pad on one side. She has loss of apetite and is taking water if I offer it but she isnt seeking it out. I'm a little worried because she doesnt want to walk, or acts like walking is painful to her. Is this just part of the labor process for this kitty?

Is this normal in some cats?

I have had one other kitty in my life give birth and she followed me everywhere she went during labor. I literally had to sit with her and hold her paw for her ot have them, so that is the only thing I have to judge by. This behavoir in this kitty just seems odd to me.

The cat that I grew up with has always been notorious for licking photos and bengay, is it sweet? My husband says that is why animals such as cats are prone to dying from antifreeze poisoning, b/c it is sweet tasting. So what is it in these three things, photos, bengay, and antifreeze that makes cats lick them? I have pondered this for years and am glad to have found somewhere to ask this question, it's been driving me nuts! Thanks in advance for your answers!

We have a small patio on the back of our townhome with a small grassy flower bed. The neighbor's cats are constantly jumping over the fence to our patio and using our patio furniture to sharpen their claws as well as our small flower bed as a litter box. I don't want to kill them or anything but I want them away from my property! Please help!

(with a few cat toys mixed in. he's almost 3 and never did this before- i work from home and he gets attention all day- he is always underfoot- getting another cat has not seemed to divert his attention away from me- anyone know why a cat would do this?

He weighs 26 lbs, is an indoor/outdoor cat. Doesn't seem quite himself lately. He is still affectionate and seems to have a good appetite. Any ideas about the drooling and lip-smacking?

Has there been any studies on the subject? I know why catnip causes cats to act they way they do but I have also noticed that some cats in particular males react in almost the same way to olives but even more intensely than catnip. Could it be that olives also smell similar to the pheromones that causes mating behaviour in cats? or is there another explanation?
I have never been able to find any scientific data about the effects of olives on cats but I have known ALOT of cats that react to it and go crazy for olives because of it. If anyone has any insight as to why and how olives affect cats I would be interested to know!! Thanks.
