Even though they now play nicely together, your older cat still might be upset that there's another cat using his litterbox. The general rule for households with more than 1 cat is: 1 box per cat PLUS an extra box. (2 cats = 3 boxes, 4 cats = 5 boxes etc.)

Another thought might be something medical. Maybe he's got a urinary tract infection, bladder infection or kidney infection. A good vet can do testing for this. Cats who have pain during urination will pee anywhere BUT in their own litterbox.

To remove the smell of cats' urine, you'll need a product called "Nature's Miracle". You can find it in better pet shops. Apply the product liberally, into underpadding and below carpets. Let it dry naturally, this takes about 2 weeks. Once fully dried, the cat won't be able to smell his own scent, thus discouraging him from repeating the peeing behaviour.
Hitting, squirting, rubbing alcohol, nose rubbing and yelling doesn't teach your cat anything but hate for it's owner.
I hope you can investigate these possibilities and get to the root of the problem.
Best wishes

The cat is trying to define his territory because of the other cat. And he is stressed that there is an interloper in his space.

Do you have a separate litter box for the new cat? If not, may be an idea to do this. The other cat may not let him use the box.

Putting his nose in his pee and poop will accomplish nothing except scaring and stressing him even more. It is actually cruel and dangerous and it can injure the cat's nasal passages.

When you have "disciplined" the cat, did you catch him in the act or afterwards? Yelling will frighten and stress him more as well.

If you catch him, grab him and put him in his own litter tray. Keep his tray and feed bowls in a separate area to the new cat's/ Allow him to have his own space and territory.

I have three cats, they have a tray each and in different areas of the house. Even the kittens have their own tray/s

Getting a second litter box just might work. Some cats will just refuse to use a litter box that another cat has already been using.

Some Cts need to have theyre own box....1 litter box per cat...if 2 cats two boxes...some(especially siamese..but not always) even need theyre box to be in seperate place...Males are picky...fixed or not...lol...OR...try potty training...lol....get a basket that fits your seat putt a little litter(the flushable kind)...and do the same as when u taught him to go in box...it works...i had five cats...they even waited in single file order for theyre turn...HONEST!...it took no time at all(ofcourse i did have a spare bathroom we did not use...lol) GOOD LUCK! P.S...if this does not work take him 2 vet...dont wait too long he could have infection!!!!...it shouldnt take more than a day 4 him to learn...if he still hasnt...take him in...

If he keeps going in the same spot, may I recommend putting a litter box on that spot. It might be inconvennient, but he may get used to using the litter box again then you can move it gradually to a place you want it.

okay, umm first of all, if your yelling at him, 15 seconds after the incident, DONT because he forgot what he did, and he thinks you are yelling at him for no reason. and NEVER smack him on the but, he wil just be scared of you, try putting the litter box, right where he likes to pee, see if that works

Next time he does this , scold him good, rub his nose thru it several times, slap him hard and throw him out the door real hard. I don't believe he will try his old ways again.
