hello there i just want to thank everyone for answering my question every answer was great and will take it in and hopefully they will come to like each other, my 3 year old cat is female and so is the kitten sorry for not mentioning and thanx again for answers

It's just a territory dispute--and after a while, they will settle down and maybe even come to love one another. Right now, the older cat thinks the younger one is invading her territory (which I guess the younger one is), feels she has to defend it. Won't last long as long as you give the established cat the attention and affection she is used to so she won't feel she's been replaced by a younger cat. Female cats aren't known to be baby killers but just keep an eye on both until the little one gets big enough to defend herself. I hope that with time you'll find both snuggled up together grooming each other and sleeping in a big furry ball together.
