We have one of those perches that is covered in carpeting except for the almost vertical support post, which is covered in sisel rope. Unfortunately, our cat only claws at the carpeted part, and never the rope. (Thankfully, she never claws the furniture.) I've tried putting catnip in the rope and playing with toys around the rope, but she just doesn't seem interested. Won't go for those cardboard scratching posts either.

There is an old saying:

You can lead a kitty to water...wait, Wrong saying.

You can buy a kitty anything and show it to them, and they're going to do whatever the hell they want to anyway.

Serious answer. If you've tried catnip and toys, you've done all you can do.
Your kitty prefers the carpet and that is that.

I would put an old piece of carpet tightly over the rope...I bet she prefers carpet to rope. Some kitties just do
Or you could try to put catnip on the rope,if the kitten is pretty Jung she most likely is not interested in catnip. Good luck,.

The first step in this operation is to think about what she DOES like. For instance, you're saying that your kitty likes to scratch the carpeted part of her scratching post. So...somehow get the rope part covered in carpet. If that doesn't work, just get her a new scratching post. If THAT doesn't work, just stop trying immediatly. Let her scratch the carpet part. ^_^

I have the same problem, exact same scratching post also. they will knock it over trying to get to the carpet on the very top of the post.. or hook the base and pull it over but they never touch the rope. i have carpet fibers strung out all over my floor half the time, i just gave up on them. im going to find a fragment of carpet and staple it around the post itself, try that

You can try the tips people give you here but if I was you I'd just be pretty darn thankful it doesn't choose the furniture!! So many people would rather be in your situation.

you can't force them to play with a toy if they don't want to. but you can try to get them other toys they would like.
