i just discovered where all my missing undies and dirty pajama shirts went- i looked in the closet today and found my kitty laying on top of a pile of clothing stolen from the hamper! (with a few cat toys mixed in. he's almost 3 and never did this before- i work from home and he gets attention all day- he is always underfoot- getting another cat has not seemed to divert his attention away from me- anyone know why a cat would do this?

Your kitty loves you, he smells you on your clothing & made himself a cozy place to lay down , with your scent & made himself comfortable.

If you have a female cat, she might be pregnant, that sounds like what a female does before she gives birth, I have read a few books on pregnant cats, and it is called the 'Nesting Period', if that is not what it is, you have to think, when cats were kittens, their mom kept them in a nest type environment, and it might just be that cat copying the safe and secure feeling, considering there are toys in there it could be a good possibility. If you call some people that know everything there is to know about cat's such as the vet or humane society, they might have an answer for you. That is the only thing I could think of though, is that they are just trying to mock their younger days

Lol my cat has done that ever since he was about 2 (he's 11 now), I believe it's just a comfort thing, nests are snuggly and warm for them. It doesn't really mean anything. Although the dirty undies and pjs is kindof weird (my cat makes his on my bed out of my blankets) I suggest buying him a cat bed in the shape of one of those nest and put it where the nest is.

What a cute cat story! Could be he likes the sofness of the items he's snitched from the hamper.

I used to have a cat who loved to lie in the towels warm from the dryer. I would dump them on the bed or the sofa to fold, and she would plop herself right in the middle.

May you could provide your cat with his own soft bed - maybe a fluffy, ultra-soft micro-fiber baby blanket or a fleece bed, etc.

He sounds like a sweetie.

He is just making a safe place for himself to go. Its completly normal. He is taking your belongings (dirty ones smell more like you) and making himself a bed. Dont be concerned about it. He is happy and you should be too. If you dont want him to have those, replace them with a soft blanket or something that will smell like you. Might have to keep it with your stuff for awhile but nothing abnormal about what he is doing....now if he was a female I would say you had a pregnant cat! But its a he so you are golden!

The only time I've personally seen a cat do this is when a cat of mine got pregnant. She started to do this a few weeks before she delivered.

it likes the smell of your clothes, sometime ill come in from somewhere, and they walk right up to me, and smell my pants..1 time, my cat smelled my pants for like 10min., with his nose right up to my leg.

and i think this could b possible 2

basically (i think) all cats have a fun/hyper life, but i think your cat wants attention because i have 2 cats, 1 is really nice, fat, girl, and likes to b lazy, the other, is hyper, wants all the attention, gets into alot of trouble

or

doesnt want attention, but wants to hide in a nice comfy place.
i had an older cat along time ago, and she was pretty independant, she went into our garage, slept.. etc.
our cat i guess got out of our garage when it was forgotenly unclosed, and i thinks she got out, and we never found her...but sadly to say, she is most likely dead by now.. :'( she was about 15+ and had some older problems coming..so..yah..

so your cat might not want attention so much, and just wants to b lazy, and relaxed, cause maybe your house is "busy" or "loud", idk, but it should b 1 of these..

I set up a toddler den whilst my cat replaced into approximately 6 weeks pregnant, i positioned it in the back of my settee because of the fact the front room is the warmest room. I positioned a sheet over it to offer her some privateness, and a pair of blankets over it whilst she replaced into 8 weeks to make it dark in there. the door replaced into left open so she ought to go in it on each occasion she had to. She went in it and lay down for approximately 3 minutes whilst it replaced into first set up, and two times when you consider that then, yet below the playpen floor cushion and didnt stay there long. i replaced into happy i hadnt offered the playpen as i assumed there replaced into no way she'd have them in there as she confirmed rather any activity. 0.5 an hour till now she gave beginning she went into the den and lay down on the returned. i replaced into fortunate as she needed me close to her, and she or he had a very short labour having 4 kittens 8 days in the past. My factor is, whether she shows no activity, she would have already got chosen this spot. so shop it there, shop putting her in there at evening, yet dont tension her or close her in or she would be able to replace into fearful of this area. I even have when you consider that had to weave cardboard during the bars so the kittens dont pass slowly out, or fall out!! stable success to you

Thats what alot of cats do, they like to snuggle with clothes. Teach him to snuggle scrap cloths instead of good clothes. I dont think it would actually make a nest unless it was a girl. Maybe it is a girl, but im sure if its a guy you would know it. Maybe he thinks he is a girl.
