from my observation. Yes Cats do have feelings, no where near The range of emotions humans can carry, but The feel the basics. Love, Guilt, fear, Happiness, Sadness and so on. you just don't see the ones that make your cat uncomfortable, as they tend to hide. My cat personality has learned what abandonment is. not intentional, i tend to go in the hospitals for months at at a time. also i believe he is learning how to deal with it. at first he would wonder the house all day and night looking for me. howling and crying, keeping everyone up at night. after about the 5th or 6th time the crying stooped but still wandered, now he just finds my bed and wont move till i get home. cats can be complected creatures. just be pashent and you will see more emotion from your feline. remember you only see what your cat wants you to see.

Our cats each have their own personality and emotions and they show their love for us in different ways. Mimi our youngest will lick your hand (kitty kisses) to show you her love. Spooky, our second youngest is constantly on our lap purring and Tiger the oldest loves to sleep in our bed at night with us. When my husband comes home from work, Mimi will get all excited and demand he say hi and pet her right away and if he doesn't, she gets mad and crys at the top of her lungs until he does. If you take out a toy for them to play with they get so excited and one will even make a chirping sound in excitement over her toy.
The oldest gets scared when I vacumn where the other two don't seem too bothered by it. Another runs from the room whenever I use air freshener because of the sound it makes. So, yes I feel they all have emotions just like us.

Most definitely! I had the rare occasion where I had to yell at my cat. I was moving some very important folders from one location to another, highlighted and ready to go, when my wonderful Duffers jumped up onto the keyboard. I know one paw hit DELete, and two others hit combinations of Function keys and others. Gone. Very gone...not to be found. I yelled, "Don't you ever do that again! Look what you did!" Yeah, like he knows, right? So, he skulked away, and I felt so bad that I gave up trying to find the files and went to him. I lay on the floor, nose to nose with my bud and couldn't help but weep a little myself when I apologized. He looked so sad then. I found his favorite toy...the rattlychikchik, and coaxed him in to play. He paused just before chasing the toy I tossed, touched my face gently with his paw, nosed my nose, then ran off. Thereafter things were fine.
Do cats have feelings? Oh, yeah...just like we do.

Yes they have the same emotions as humans only better they can feel joy, happiness, sadness, confusion, sick, etc

I'm sure your cat loves you and you love her plus that's all ways why you should treat an animal with respect and not hurt them.

Hi Nadine...certainly! Here's a wonderfully well-written, easy to ready Webpage article about why and how they feel emotions. I think you will find it quite fascinating and shed some extra details for your question.

DO CATS HAVE EMOTIONS?
Copyright 2001, 2003, Sarah Hartwell

"Emotion" is the term we use for feelings, some of which are instinctive and some of which are learned from those around us as we conform to society's expectations and norms. Human emotions range from "primitive" feelings such as disgust, rage, fear and lust to "complex" emotions compassion and jealousy.

Recent studies, especially in fields such as neuropsychology, show that the more "primitive" or basic emotions have a physiological basis and may be caused by chemical stimuli (such as sexual attractant scents called pheromones) or visual stimuli. Basic emotions appear to cause chemical changes in the body in response to a stimulus.

This article looks at feline feelings. In places it compares or contrasts human and feline responses or makes references to other animals for illustrative purposes.

Stephanie is right. All mammals share the limbic part of the brain and that is the "seat" of emotions as we know them. So your cat has this same part of the brain that you do.

The reptilian brain is a lower order of evolutionary development as is those of fish and insects. There is no way your pet spider or snake can "love" you. Your cat can.

To answer your question... yes, kitties have emotions. No, kitties don't have HUMAN emotions. You can tell right in their facial expressions. If his face says he's angry (ears back, eyes narrowed, may let out a hiss or a growl) you can tell he wants you to leave you alone or his face may say, "stop whatever you're doing that's annoying me before I scratch you". So pay attention to those little details of your kitties face and I guarantee you WILL see that they DO have feelings.

I think that most domesticated animals feel something like love for their human companions. If not love at least a feeling of being part of the family or pack.

Oh my goodness, they sure do! We have five & they all have their own little personalities and emotions. Animals do have instincts. Survival skills. They react & interact with their environment. But they also know love and annoyance and fear and kindness. My cats let me know when they bored and want to interact with us. They sulk when they get into trouble! So love your kitty! As with all things, the more love you give, the more love you will receive!
