This morning my sister traumatized my kitten by spraying water at her stomach (when she didn't do anything wrong), swinging a metal chain at her and picking her up then dropping her on the ground deliberately. For the past 4 hours my kitten has been extremely scared and even jumped a mile in the air when I tried to stroke her back to calm her. I've already confined her to a room so my sister can't get to her, but what else can I do to make her feel better?? She's only 11 weeks old as well.

I know The scenario...I had a brother who was convinced he could get my cat to not land on her feet...He would Throw her into ceiling...to make her fall...it never worked...but She was traumatized...The only thing you can do is to cuddle with her....hold her when it is just you two...and let her know she is safe when you are around...make hiding spots for her...and put her litter box in a place she/he doesn't feel like open prey...They like to be able to observe without being seen...Hiding them to where they can"t see won"t work...Be creative..
Good Luck...And Give him/her lots of reassurance(she/he will come out the smarter of the two...)

Don't let your sister drop her anymore.. horror story-my fiance's cousins got a new kitten (they are twelve and nine- and within a matter of just days the cat is now a paranoid nut-case. This cat attacks you and hisses, scratchs and tries to really trip you while you coming down the stairs.
With your cat, inform your parents about what is going on. Keep your kitten in your room with you.. get a towel and throw it in the dryer for a moment till it's nice and warm and put it in a hidding place where you know she will be and where your sister won't. Show the kitten the spot while lightly stroking right around the collar area of her neck -this is really pleasurable for them or at least my cats- Then leave her alone, go and do about your things. She will probably want to sleep since it is warm and smells nice, just keep it slow and I hope she will turn out a beautiful, normal cat.

Some cats LOVE water. It varies by breed. Most just don't like being wet. Making sure that the water is a comfortably warm temperature should help. Also, if she scratches a lot when you try to give her a bath, give her something to hold onto (like a towel thrown over a board). Sometimes they just don't like the weird positions you put them in when you bathe them or the cold sink.

I'm so sorry. You are doing the right thing by keeping her out of harm's way. Please talk to your parents, and if you can you might have to confine your kitten while your sister is around, until she is much older. Can you keep the kitten in your bedroom with you at night? She'd probably love to cuddle with you.

Since you've already put her in a relaxing environment make a small bedfor her to rest in and keep calming her down with gentle strokes and treats with love. I understand how little sisters can get rough with animals ( i have two.) : )

It will take time for her to regain trust in her surroundings. Keep your sister away from her, and/or do not allow her near the kitten without supervision. How old is your sister, and why would she do that?

Your sister needs some help. Psychology research shows again and again that cruelty to animals is a precursor to cruelty to humans. And by all means keep the poor little kitty away from her.

cats get traumatized for life. avoid things like this as much as possible. keep your sister away. like my 17 year old cat for example, i adopted him when he was 5 months old. his old owner kept him inside a black garbage bag. now everytime i bring out the trash he freaks out. careful, its hard to have a cat like that
