Cats - September 2006

I used to have a cat, but he ran away. must have wanted to explore the place, but something most definetly have happen to him. it's been years ago. I'm a cat lover, a huge one, i always feel better talking tocats. even if they can't understand human speech, they can tell by the tone just as we can.

I just adopted a 3mo old kitten from the pound, and it is recovering from being spayed, and has a cold as well. I got it two days ago (after it had surgey) and it hasnt eaten anything. It drink plenty of water.... took it to the vet today for the free check up, and the vet wasnt too concerned. any one have ideas how to get it to eat?

HELP!!I just went outside to move my car and found 5 newborn kittens under it. The mother ran across the street. I think it is a feral cat because I have seen it around before and it always gets scared and runs off. I put the kittens in a large plastic trash can (on its side) with a towel inside and put a can of tuna in front of it to lure the momma cat to it. Its been about an hour and the momma cat hasn't come back yet. It is raining and cold around here and I am afraid they will get cold and hungry. Do you think the momma will come back? What do I do if she doesn't come back? The animal shelter isn't open around here on the weekends and I can't keep the cats.(hubby allergic)

What happened to our 5 month old kitten? Dr had her 5 days tried several different antibiotics, including flagyl, penicillin, cleocin and sub-q fluids as well as iv fluids. They could never get the diarrhea under control. Incision from spay surgery was well approximately and healing well from the external side. Was it the rabbit? I have several other kittens and don't want this to happen again. I have 5 other cats/kittens spayed/neutered at the same time and they seem to be fine. The diarrhea was severe - looked like urine with small flecks of feces. Maybe someone else has come across this. We do live in the country. Thanxs for your responses

i have had like 5 cats before but they have all been litter trained before i got them. So i am a little worried about how i should litter box train this (girl) kitten. it will be about 4-6 weeks old by the time that i get it. Please help i really need it. K-town girl

we have a new 2 month old kitten. She is a hyper spaz. She also has lotts of toys that we have bought her etc. to play with. But she likes to pounce and bite my boyfriend and I! We say no and hold her and try to pet her to get her to calm down and tell her no biting, but it has not stopped But she will be really lovey too and ourr and try to nurse on our ear lobes or shirt and lay down. I just wonder if the biting is normal kitten behavior or if she is taking this a bit extreme and she could have a behavior problem.

My boyfirend got me a new kitten . My boyfriends mom's cat had babyies. Her cat had four kittens . All boys. She's keeping onew and my boyfriend is keeping to . Any ways. I dont know any boys names. One is black and white spotted, one is all black and one is orange stripped. They are all from one litter. Their mommas name is Fitzgerald, Fitz for short. Thanks for the help.

we just got a new kitten. She was a stray not quite weened completely from its stray mom. she was born in the country in my dad's garage. When we brought her home she adapted pretty quickly, she picked up quickly on the litter training and everything. She is hyper and always wants to play etc. I can not see what stress there would be in her life at all. I clean her litter box daily and change the letter weekly. So her box is clean and in an open location. But now she is starting to pee or mostly poop downstairs(everything for her is upstairs). We clean and then shampoo the carpet after every incident. I take her to her litter box after each time and after she eats and coach her to use it. She will sometimes, but other times she decides to misbehave. We even give her treat after she goes in the litter box. Help! We have a new house and do not want her to go anywhere but the liltter box! I do not understand!

We have been feeding him outside and he comes in through our cat flap on a night. He has now started coming into our garden when we are actually in it. Today, he has been in our house (by the patio doors) most of the day. The problem that we have, is that he won't allow us to handle him yet. If he has chosen to make our house his home, then we need to be able to flea him and care for him properly. He won't come close enough, to allow us to stroke him. How do we go about doing this? Also, how can we ensure that our cat doesn't feel left out? All good advice will be very much appreciated

I use frontline so I suppose it can't be a flea allergy, although the vets insist that it is. Any good ideas appreciated, she's allmost bald, and my house gets covered in hair.
