My vet told me you could get a good idea of whether or not a cat has a fever by feeling if its ears of gums were warm to the touch. You could always take its temperature rectally (you have to hold the thermometer in place for about 3 minutes)and that's a LONG time for the cat and you, so if her ears and gums feel hot take her to the vet.

I knew when my cat had a fever once by how hot her head felt. My mother insisted that you can't tell if a cat has fever that way, but I took her to the vet and she was sick and running a fever. I was always laying my cheek on her head when I petted her, so I could tell the difference. If you're used to what your cat feels like temperature wise and she feels hot, she could have a temp. That's not a perfect way of finding out of course, but it's the best I can come up with short of going to the vet and having it checked.

You can use a thermometer in the usual place (coated with a little vaseline). I have never tried this and am not really recommending that procedure. A normal body temp for a cat is around 102.
There are usually other signs of fever - lethargy, not wanting to eat, hiding away from you etc. Cats naturally fast when they are not feeling well.
Hope you will consider a vet trip if your cat shows any of these signs of illness.

Same way as a dog. Usually. Dry warm nose. But I don't honestly know, if I noticed my kitty was sick, I'd take her to the vet ASAP.

Get a thermometer and take her temperature rectally. 100.5-102.5 is normal. Or take her to your vet.
