Oh there is NO WAY that's fleas....I have 4 cats. If your cat is nearly bald there's several things to ask yourself...
1st Did you move recently and this is a HOUSE cat?? If so, cats get stressed very easily and can go neurotic on you...Cats hate moving. Put some honey on it's paws to disconnect the "Old Home Scents" so it'll adjust to the new home...
ANY new pets? Cats hate "New Pets".....In fact they just hate change of any sort.
Any NEW boyfriends or girlfriends? Cats hate "new anything" that isn't >>EASED gently into their lives<< Of course your new boyfriend may secretly torture your cat behind your back and......well unfortunately cat's just don't like evil people, or dogs...
So that's the end of the psychological possibilities....just look for drastic changes possibly freaking out the cat including some form of trauma......
Next is general health of the skin....that cat could be soooo itchy from changes in food, changes in things like carpeting, changes in your, yes YOUR laundry soap or fabric softener. Have you ever had a soap make you itchy?? Cat's can have the same reactions to it's environment.
The point is.....look at the beginning of when the problem started, assume it's environment is the cause, and change it back to what it was. Hell, it could even be the frontline your applying, if it was using Hartz beforehand.
Any changes in food??

I'm not joking here, I've had a condition all my life where I pull my hair out in chunks as a form of comfort or when I'm tired, I recently found out it is an obsessive compulsive disorder called trichotilimania. I went my whole life with bald patches and crap hair to find out it was a condition, maybe your cat has some form of this. I am not joking and am not stupid, this is just an idea, if you have tried various flea treatments and veterinary services I cannot think of anything else

I went through the same thing! After months of ruling out fleas, allergies, parasites, and spending hundreds of dollars, the vet diagnosed my cat with psychogenic alopecia. It is pretty much like OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), but for cats. My vet put her on 5 mg of Amitriptyline. Think of it as downers for kitties. She gets 1/2 of a pill each night. It has really helped and she is much more relaxed. Plus her black fur is starting to grow back:)

Could it be allergy to frontline? Maybe try advantage for one month, it has a different active ingredient.
Also Frontline application doesn't necessarily mean that NO fleas are going to bite your pet. They have to bite your pet to be killed by the frontline.
Good luck!

fleas can get used to Frontline. You could switch to Advantage, as we have. It is used the same way, just a different chemical.

My friends cat used to do that and she took him to the vet and the vet said he could be depressed and to make a real fuss of him. Good luck, sounds really worrying.

is it suffering from stress at all? how long have u had her? do u keep her inside? has she been introduced to any new animals recently? have u moved recently? I don't think this is a flea problem i think its a stress problem. Look at things from her perspecive and see if u can work out what is troubling her. new additions to the house perhaps?
