Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, Felidae, Fromm, Triumph among some others are the best. They have quality ingredients no cheap fillers & by products.

I would like to add a few to Dane Lover's list.
(1) Natural Balance has many varieties: chicken and liver, turkey and giblets, an "ultra" which is mostly chicken and has some duck and salmon in it, they have a fish (I don't use that often as fish is not particularly good for cats). I have just been using this brand in the last few months and my cats seem to like it very much. I have even found this in our local pet discount store.

(2) Wellness. I have used this for a long time. I use the turkey and the turkey and salmon. Haven't tried their beef mixture.

(3) I have just ordered a sample pack of dry and canned food from healthypetnet.com. They have a canned food called Instinctive Choice. I had used their dry food for years and it was shipped from Florida to me in CA and the shipping charges made it quite pricey. It is an excellent quality food so sign up for their sample offer. I'm not sure if I will get more than one can with their offer, still I want to try it. It will only be $3.00 for me to have it shipped to CA. You can only order this food through the company, they don't use retail outlets.

(4) Nature's Variety (Prairie) is top quality, probably the most expensive. It has carrots, peas, potatoes and whatnot in with the meat. Of course my cats eat the meat and gravy and leave the veggies on their plates in their own inimical cat style.

Check this out:

Scroll down towards the end, into the "Some Final Thoughts" section, and you'll find a link "Commercial Canned Cat Food Choices" embedded in a paragraph. There you'll see information on specific brands.

You won't find any of the good stuff in a grocery store. Most of them can be found at Pet Food Direct:

Innova - a little pricey but worth it. I have cats that are prone to urinary tract infections and the vet said short of a perscription food, this was the best.

Someone here said feed it as an occaisional treat - I disagree. Cats need WATER in their food - if your cat drinks alot from the water dish it is probably dehydrated. Once I switched my cats from an all dry diet to 1/2 innova dry and 1/2 Innova wet, they barely touch their water dishes and have not had to return to the vet for infections. Feed treats geared toward tooth health and feed at least 1/2 the diet as wet food!

Science Diet, Iams, California Naturals. But only feed canned food as an occasional treat. They need to eat dry food to keep their teeth, gums, and jaw muscles healthy.
