Yikes! I know a cat that actually electrocuted himself doing that. He recovered but it wasn't pretty.
You could try a bitter spray like "Bitter Apple". It makes things taste bad so that the cat won't bother with it. Also make sure that the cat has toys etc to play with and chew on to help distract him from the cords.
Keep a close eye on him!
Best of luck!

When my adult female cat was a kitten I had to use hot peppers to prevent her from chewing up power cords and anything else that she tried destroying. All you have to do is go to your local store or food market and get some hot peppers then take them home and rub some of the juice on the power cords and that should put a stop to your kittens chewing problem also try getting some catnip to distract the kittens attention or even lots of toys with feathers attached.

Cover the cord or wind up the cord and go to the pets store and buy your cat some toys that resemble the phone cords. But be sure you keep that phone cord hid the best you can so that he doesn't play with it it can electrocute him

I had the same problem with my cat when she was a kitten also, and I found that spraying a topical biting deterrent on items such as cords really helped to diminish that habit. I used this great product called Biter Apple biting deterrent. I'm sure pretty much any pet store( like Petsmart or Pet co.) carries this product or one like it. Well good bye and good luck with your kitten! :)

I've read that cats really dislike citrus. I would suggest taking some fresh orange or lemon peel and rubbing it on the cord every couple of days until kitty gets the idea to leave it alone.
