Eventually the cat is going to kill your hamster .it is your responsibility to keep the hamster safe Either LOCK the door where it can't be opened a simple slide lock will do it or put the hamster cage higher where the cat can't get to it-can't climb to get to the cage. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out but a desire to keep your hamster safe should be motivation for you unless you think its funny, cute whatever-maybe you are not responsible enough to be entrusted with the life of a pet.

Get a hamster cage that has a appropriate on it, wont enable her to get into it. Wal-mart has an mind-blowing cage, $19, its have been given small spaced bars, so little paws can no longer get into it. I actual have 2 cats and a pair of hamsters, in 2 distinctive cages. The cages are on the dinning room table interior the open, the cats get onto the table and watch the hamsters, yet can no longer get to them, have had the hamsters for 4 months and the cats long formerly that. So the cage is outstanding. try that.

Do both the animals a favor - give one or the other away - you are terrifying one (hamster) and frustrating the other (cat) and it is not going to end well. If you won't do this - then Lock the door!!
Cats can open unlocked doors . But why torture them? Have a heat - be responsible - do the right thing.

Well she either knows how to open a door or you don't close it all the way. You can try to lock the door. When you are home check on her or something to make sure that she isn't by the hamster.Or you keep her in certain areas with baby gates or locked doors.

Unless she is a ghost, your cat can't walk through your door. How about a window, is she getting in that way? Try putting a lock on your door just in case your kitty is so clever she has figured out how to turn the knob.

My cat has opened doors before. The best idea is to get a latch or lock so she can't open it.

cats will be cats. put a plant hook in the ceiling away from shelves, etc. & hang the cage from the ceiling. We used to hang our hamster under the carport because it got so hot indoors. A bee stung it & it died! Make sure to window screen the cage if outdoors.

Your cat may squeez under the door. Sounds impossible but I just saw it happen. try wedging something under the door.
