Over the past few weeks I've noticed my 4 year old tortoise shell cat (female) occasionaly reaching and making a coughing noise, but she is never sick. Recently this then developed into what appears to be constipation. She is still drinking water, but when she eats her dry food, she chews it up, but most of it ends up in the bowl. When I watch her eat, you can see this reaching motion like she's about to be sick, but she continues trying to eat and seems very hungry.

My concern now is the vet has eliminated constipation, and taken some x-ray's but they can't find anything wrong. Could it be a long hair tangled in her thoat? Would an x-ray show this? She's now lost weight, but still tries to eat and I don't know what else to do.

The vet has now put her on anti-biotics, but I'm not sure if this is going to work.

i just posted a question about declawing, now i want to know about SoftClaws...i checked the website out but it seems "unreal" i guess...will the cat actually sit there long enough for my to apply them? will he try to bite them off...he's almost 4 months, is that too young?? do these work the same as "clipping" the nails ?? tell me all you know about this product!

We just moved to the country, so the cats are going crazy catching mice. I can't stand finding them lying throughout the house. I have a 1 year old and am very nervous that he'll find the mice before me!

i know its kind of cruel to have a cat declawed, but if his scratching post and other things arent working its my only choice, i was curious to see if he will act differently afterwards, like be alot calmer? he's only a little over 3 months and the shelter had him neutered at a young age so he's already a little calmer then he was im sure, any advice? I cant have him clawing up the carpet, tv speakers and couch...all things we'll end up paying for in the end.

does anyone know if flea treatment u get from the vet can cause a cats hair to fall out and the skin to get red and bumpy. i have had two cats in the past and every time i got them flea treatment about a week after having them. then about a week later i notice hair falling out...then later i notice redness on the skin and bumps. is this from the treatment or some other condition.NOTE:i did not have the cats at the same time, it happened two seperate times.

Our 2-yr old tabby (Cooper) developed a bad habit last year. We moved his litter box from our office/guest room into our bathroom. After we did that, he would use his litter box, but would also pee on the spot of carpet where the box use to be. We have punished him, cleaned the carpet 3x, put baking soda on it right after we find that he does it, & used a stain/odor remover. We even moved the box on that spot, but he still pees as close as that spot as he can. He was neutered when he was very young and has a clean bill of health by the vet. If he was spraying on lots of verticle surfaces or peeing on more spots, I would worry about a health/mental problem; but it is only one spot in our apartment and he only hits it when he has the opprotunity. Now we have to keep the door closed all the time. The best remover we have found was 'Kids N Pets', which works great, but he still marks that spot. Any suggestions or cleaners that go to the carpet padding (which we can't pull up)?

I have an 11 year old cat in good health. I am going away for ten days on a vacation. The hotel I go to allows pets, but I really don't think he would like the 3 hour car trip or being left alone in the hotel. I imagine that it would be pretty tramatic for him. I think that I would be better off leaving him at my home and having my Dad who lives locally check on him every few days. I have an auto feeder and water tank for him already.

My 4 month kitten from 4 day ago was sometimes acting something like Puke but only with a voice, he was good with good condition. 2 days ago his breathing makes a little noise and from yesterday he did not eat anymore, his nose is shut by its own Secretions.
His breathing is not normal and sometimes his breathing remembers me a human who has shut noses and infected Fauces.

Is it possible that something like fish Bone in his Gorge?
What I should give him as food?
Please help me…

My cat is tooo funny.... Every morning my alarm goes off and I usually hit snooze. After hitting snooze several times I usually roll over on my back and if I don't get up my cat gets mad. She stands on my belly and kneads it while making every sound imaginable. She'll say something then I'll say something back and we go back and forth. She only does this in the mornings and if it wasn't for her I would have been late a lot of times! Anybody else have this happen?

My cat suddenly developed "fits", often beginning with his mouth twitching or bathing that turns into frantic licking. His whole back will ripple. When he tries to lick different areas, he acts like he has a bad taste in his mouth then takes off running. Sometimes this lasts for seconds, sometimes it goes on and on for only short breaks between "fits." He also developed diahrrea about a week ago. He has been to the vet twice. He is being treated for the diahrrea but an exam and blood work gives no explanation for his disturbing behavior. It does not seem like seizures as he is very relaxed when we pick him up during a fit and he doesn't phase out on us. I don't want to put him on seizure medication which could harm him if that is not what the problem is. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Thanks.

We found her nine years ago when her mom abandoned her. She didn't even have her eyes open yet. We'd never had a cat before so we kept feeding her milk, thinking that's what we were SUPPOSED to do. We finally took her to the vet because she kept crying. He told us that the milk wasn't filling her up and gave us some special formula to use, but we had essentially starved her for a few days by that time and she was obviously weaned too early.

She has turned out to be the most ornery cat I've ever seen. I've been around other cats. They like to be pet, they're social. . .kind of cold, but not THAT bad. My cat is cranky all the time. She only likes her head scratched, and that's only sometimes. She runs away every time company visits. She hisses and growls all the time. She acts like she's been ABUSED, for goodness sake, and we've always treated her very well. Why does she act like this? Could the stuff when she was young have traumatized her badly?
