Yes, sadly my 20 yr old cat died in May & I had him cremated. Ther are pet cemetaries that handle these things. The vet will give you names of them. Just make SURE you specify you want a private cremation, or they cremate a bunch of animals together & you get a mix of ashes back. They even have all different urns you can pick out. When the kitty is euthanized at the vets office, you have to leave them there and the cemetary comes & picks up the kitty's body. Then, oddly enough they UPS the ashes to you. Or you can have them buried at the pet cemetary, which is more costly. It;s very very difficult, but I feel it's a final gift to give our beloved pets an honorable send off. Good luck.

That is one option for you when a pet dies. Here are the options you can use (even if your pet dies at home). Just contact your veterinarian for these options.
1. Mass burial: An option if you elect to not bury your pet in your backyard. Your pet will be buried with many other pets in a mass grave. This is usually the cheapest option at a vet clinic.
2. Mass cremation: Your pet would be cremated with any pets whose owners elected to have this done. This costs more than mass burial.
3. Individual cremation: Your pet would be cremated by itself, with the ashes returned to you (usually in a small floral decorated tin, although for a greater price, you can elect to purchase a nicer urn). This is the most expensive option. The company that does it usually also sends a certificate stating that it is only your pet in the tin.
I recently had my cat euthanized and individually cremated and the total cost was $85.

Yes, if you have everything that is needed.
Usualy you can have a group cremation and have the ashes spred over the country side or you can get your kitty cremated and get the ashes back for you to keep or burry as you wish.
I've thought about these options for my cats. I know it will happen some day :(
I've burried most of my cats that have died, but I have had others cremated. It is a sad thing.

Yes I have my baby Shmoe Sapphire Shikaro upstairs cremated in an urn....:-( It's been 7 years and I still miss him lots :-(

when my grand-mother cat's died, the vet cremate it. My grandma didn't want to see that though, she was too sad...

Yes, it is definately an option. You can speak with your vet or there are pet cemetaries and cremation centers that can do it....

My sister works at a vet clenic, and yes, they do cremate animals.

not if you plan to do it yourself at home. It requires quite high temperatures. Talk to your vet, he/she can arrange a proper cremation, urn and all
