I have a 5 month old kitten , I just had neutered 3 days ago, now he wont use the liter box, anyone know why?

Did you use shredded newspaper in the litterbox after he was neutered? My vet told me not to use cat litter in the litterbox for the first week after my cat was neutered. The cats "privates" are sore for the first week and making contact with the litter while they squat can irritate them. This might be the problem.

Maybe he thinks his stuff is buried in there. I have a 7 year old cat that I had neutered at 6 months and he still will not let my hand go down his back passed his front shoulders. I can pet his chest,neck and all over his head but not anywhere near his hind quarters!

Well it could be one of two things. Either there's a medical problem for him, from the surgery [he could still be sore there, and not as capable of controlling the muscles]. Or he's simply mad at you for taking him to the vet and this is his way of expressing his unhappiness at you. I'm not kidding. I had a cat who's way of expressing his displeasure was to intentionally eat every potted plant in the house, if he was mad at me. You should probably ask your vet, though, just in case it's a medical issue.

He is probably just sore. Did the vet send him home with pain medication I hope??? He may feel sore when he uses the box, so he thinks the box is the problem. Try setting up a different box with different litter.

I have never heard of neutering bringing on this problem. All reputable vets will do a follow-up on their surgeries. Call tomorrow for sure.

I agree w/the respondent who says that it could be either one of two things: 1) behavioral - he is mad at you. Like he says, it is no joke, or 2) he is still sore & should be checked by your vet.

I think his mad at you for cutting his thing. Shoot I would be mad at you too if it was me.
