My cat is lossing hair in patches and on both sides. The hair is still thick on his back. The cat is old and his coat has a rough feeling. He lives inside the house. He had fleas in one spot near his tail. We treated him for the fleas several months ago. He also receives flea medicine every month on the back of his neck. I thought he had fleas agains, so I bath about a month ago and used fleas soap but when I completed the bath there were no fleas in the water. He continues to loose his hair. He is also pulling his hair out. I was looking on the web and on a site stated it was toxins. They stataed he needed nature products to cleanes his system. I need to know if I'm dealing with fleas or toxins. I looked on him yesterday and I saw a flea. I don't know why he continues to get fleas. I have no fleas in the home. We have it sprayed every month. I also treated him for the fleas last week. What am I doing wrong with him. He is looking bad.

"Chico" is on the mend. He has a tyroid (sp) problem which was being regulated with medicine. Problem was the medicine we were giving the little guy was left out of the fridge overnight and being at room temp ruined it. We kept giving him the bad medicine for weeks not knowing it was no longer effective. He lost a lot of weight. He is now getting proper medicine which I take care to put back in the fridge every time now but he needs to regain his weight. He is eating tuna mixed with water a little but he really likes rare roast beef lunch meat which I will buy as much as he wants seeing how this is all my fault. What other means do you get a sick animal to eat in case he loses his taste for beef?

Please email me as I have some information for you about the 20 yr. old cat. I had not thought of a heart problem and I checked in one of my books. I can give your names of some supplements you might use with the cat if a heart problem is detected.

Advantage type products just freak me out. I'm not comfortable putting pesticides directly on my pets. Are there any alternative products out there that work?

My approx. 6 month old kitten wakes me up every morning at 3:30am by liking my face incessantly! He had move this back to 5:30am (somewhat better), but is now back at 3:30am...and again at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30, give or take. Sometimes when I finally get out of bed, he makes sure I'm following him and runs to the kitchen and starts eating. I go back to bed. Sometimes its just about the licking. I need to get some sleep!!! Thanks.

My cat is about 5 years old. she is black, and very playful, but is an indoor cat.

since late 2005, she has had excessive shedding. we have taken her to the vet and asked about the issue, but our vet said nothing was wrong.

but, she has now developed a small bald spot since 3 weeks ago, that is the size of a dime. we looked up this problem on the computer, and i have leveled it down to two possibilites- parasites, or a hormonal imbalance.

has this ever happened to anyone's cat?

She is 4 years old, we adopted her from a litter. When she was 2 she stole my dogs old bed and started making a circular kneeding motion around the bed like how a pizza maker would spread out the dough. We got rid of that bed as it got yicky and about three months ago she stole one of the couch cushions and started to kneed that. She gets a dazed look in her eyes. Then after about 5 minutes of kneeding she will lay down on or next to the pillow and go to sleep. Why does she do this and is she aware of how stupid she looks?

My cat cannot STAND his carrier. He's too smart for the old bait trick. The thing I don't understand is the fact that he loves small, confined places like under my clothes in my closet and in small corners covered by stuff. Why does he hate it so much?

For example just outside your bedroom door while you are sleeping. Or somewhere else you are likely to walk and have to step over it. Our cat does this several times a day every day. What is she trying to say?

We are planning to relocate from NJ to SC. It will be a 12 hour ride. I have 5 cats, 2 of which are very old (14 & 16 - those are the two I am most concerned about). They'll have the stress of moving, seeing their home upside down, etc, and then have to be in a car for so many hours. Does anyone have ANY suggestions on how to make it easier, for them and for me, without the use of tranquilizers from the vet? (I am afraid the older one's wouldn't survive a tranquilizer). Twelve hours is a LONG time to hear them howling!

I have a 5 month old Bengal kitten and when he plays he sometimes gets a bit too excited and ends up savaging me leaving me covered in bites and scratches. This is not playing - he really attacks me!!!!
He is on the whole a very affectionate and cuddly kitten and only does this when he gets too carried away playing.
He is being castrated in 3 weeks time so hope he will then calm down - has any-one any similar experiences (of kittens, not being castrated!!!)

My daughter's cat is pregnant again but she has been told that she has to wait 6 months after the first litter before the cat can be spayed. The trouble is, at less than 6 months since her last litter, the cat is up the duff again! Apart from keeping her in for 6 months (very difficult) what can my daughter do?
