Thats exactly whats happened to my cat again, she was due to get spayed back in June, but unfortunately it was a couple of weeks too late. Spoke with the vet and was told they will neuter her a week after all the kittens are away. So that should be when the kittens are 8-9 weeks old. Basically about 2 weeks after they have been weaned properly.

If you hurry and have her spayed she won't have the kittens. the vet will remove them (an abortion) along with her female parts during the spay but you can't wait too long because a cat is pregnant for only 68 days. Call your vet for more info and advice. also be aware that a spay with a scoop out is more expensive than just a plain spay.

my cat sox had 4 kittens and the vet said i could have her spayed at 8 weeks. when i took her to the vet in the morning for her operation they rang me to say she was pregnant by approx 3 weeks and did i want to go ahead. it cost an extra £15.00 but she was so thin from looking after her kittens it would have been terrible for her to carry another litter. that was three weeks ago and she is looking much fitter. i used parks vets which have a franchise and they are very good.

After the kittens are weaned. I did that because I didn't want to go through the whole in heat, rigamaroll again. If you wait that long, 6 mos., the cat will surely be in heat again like you have seen.

I don't know of any vet that will spay a cat before it has weaned its kittens. Unfortunately, by that time, they are almost always pregnant.

Wrong advice again-- cats can be spayed three weeks after giving birth; they dont lose their milk, or their maternal feelings for their babies. Ask a GOOD vet!!!
