My approx. 6 month old kitten wakes me up every morning at 3:30am by liking my face incessantly! He had move this back to 5:30am (somewhat better), but is now back at 3:30am...and again at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30, give or take. Sometimes when I finally get out of bed, he makes sure I'm following him and runs to the kitchen and starts eating. I go back to bed. Sometimes its just about the licking. I need to get some sleep!!! Thanks.

Feed him some canned cat food right before you go to bed. The most common reason that cats wake up their owners early in the morning is because they want to eat. Plus since your cat is still a kitten, he might just want attention. He should outgrow this behaviour. You could also hide little treats and cat toys around the house, this can keep him busy for quite awhile. Then when he's done he should be tired and have a full belly.

P.S.- Don't put him out at night, or during the day. Cats who are kept strictly indoors have a longer, healthier life.

Lock the cat in another room. If you just close your door the cat will scratch at the door and wake you up that way. They also cry real loud so it should be put in a room far away from you.

lol!! sorry to laugh but I hear ya! I have 2 cats that are 13 months old and we got them at 3.5 months and I have not had a full night sleep since.

One thing you could do is get a large dog crate big enough to put a small litter box in and put your cat in there when he wakes you up, it will at least alow you to get back to sleep and get a couple extra hours.

good luck!

Try blowing in her face, if that doesn't work try squirting her with a squirt gun. Lastly, separation: close the bedroom door or put her in her carrier until you get up.

Another thought is she hungry? Feed her just before you go to bed.

Try schedul;ing a play time with your cat just before bed. If you tire kitty out you may get a full nights sleep

My cat used to do this to me when he was younger. I got him to stop by blowing hard in his face whenever he started to do it. You can also pretend you are asleep and wait til he does it to correct him, otherwise you never know, he might be doing it in your sleep and you don't even wake up! Anyway, after maybe 3 nights of blowing in his face he stopped and started to knead my hair with his paws instead. Oh well at least it wasn't gross.

Mine was a pain like this too. They grow out of it. You don't say if he's a house cat, could you let him out at night so he can't do this- it's probably due to boredom.

your very fortune to have an affectionate animal like that, consider yourself blessed and slowly discipline her not to do that if it interferes with your sleep, i would simply remove her from the room or put her outside as disciplinary action.

my cats do this too except they poke me with their nose until i pet them
try shutting your bedroom door and if all else fails keep a spray bottle by your bed and spritz him when he does it he should get it after once or twice.
