I've recently noticed that my two kittens have fleas. I've went out and bought a couple of flea collars, can anyone tell me how long these will take to work, and what else can I do to rid my house of these beasties?

my niece stepped on my a 5 day old kitten at 9 this am. It is still alive, but since then it has been twitching, the mouth opening and closing, the front paws doing a knitting motion, rolling itself over once in a while, and drooling. It's head and eyes are a bluish color. I think it's brain bled, but it has lived almost 10 hours like this. It hasn't eaten all day. I thought about giving her drops of water but don't think she can swallow and don't want to choke her. I don't have the money for a vet nor do I think there is anything they can do.
Can anyone give me some advise PLEASE?

My 14 year old cat purrs intermittently, cannot continue purring as he breathes in and it is bearly audible.
Could it be because he was taken from his mother at 6 weeks and that meant he didnt learn certain things from her?

My cats it heat and is driving me crazy! She's hissing at her little sister and us! I'm tired of this and it's only the 3rd time in her life! We are getting her spayed next month, but do I have to wait that long? Can't I just stop the behavier?

Tupalo is our first cat, got her when she was 6 weeks, she is not 6 months. We aquired another kitten, whos about 3 months.
She seems to not like the older kitten thought Tupalo, our 6 month seems to be taking the new kitten better.

Will this change? wi'll they grow accustom to each other? Will it cause jealousy?

My family got a puppy from a rescue and its not that the other pets don't like him its just that the cats are stubborn. The same thing happened when we got another cat about four years ago and the first one marked the house. We have tried everything short of moving and ripping up carpet.

I have a flea infestation on my two indoor cats and in my house. They will not go away. I have bought Advantage, Capstar, used dawn dishwashing liquid, flea powder, collars, flea combs. Nothing is working to kill the fleas on my poor cats. I tried mixing garlic in their food, they wouldnt go near the plate.
Also, I have used Knockout in my house and have vacuumed and steam cleaned all carpets. The flea population in the house has lessened but they are still around as well. I am at my wits end with these fleas and I am spending a fortune trying to kill them. Any suggestions on a last resort would be appreciated.

When I first got my cat, the vet said I should clip her nails on a regular basis. However, my cat absolutely refuses to let that happen! She uses a scratching post all the time. Is that good enough?

My cat has matted hair (Totally not my fault, I was on Vacation and my mom forgot to groom her) and I know it bothers the hell out of them... I have clippers (Electric) and I'd really like to get rid of the mats. My mom wont take her to a Vet OR a Groomer because if cost and the fact that she doesnt want to explain that she didnt take care of her. Since there is no convincing her, can I please have some tips? I want to give her the helmet and boots, hahaha. Please, I need serious answers. Not, "Dont shave your cat..." Or anything like that...

My 9 year old cat is bumming. We are fostering with intent to adopt a rescue dog, about the same size as the cat, and we;ve only had the dog for about 5 days. But my usually fearless and outgoing, playful cat has become jumpy, and is lickng more than usual, appears to be refusing to pee or poop, and seems generally depressed and annoyed. She is eating, but her food is in a different place and she keeps going back to her old place to eat. I don't want to give the dog back, but I also want my cat to go back to being her happy self. What should I do?

We have a 16 year old calico who has recently (read past 3 months) taken up peeing on the carpets in the childrens play room and bed rooms. We really can't live with my small children (3 & 4) playing and living with cat pee everywhere. We did take her to the vet and she does have a mild thyroid problem that may be the reason why the behavior started. We could treat the thyroid problem (not cheap btw) but my husband has doubts about her changing her behavior now that she has gotten used to going on the carpet. We love her dearly, especially the kids, but we cant live with her turning our house into a toilet. We dont have anyone else who could take her; is simply time to say good bye? Other than the peeing she is a plesant cat and in fairly good shape for her age.

My sister/roommate recently adopted two kittens and brought them to our two-bedroom condominium. Although she initially promised to keep them in her bedroom (I'm allergic & hate cat hair on my clothes), she relocated them to the front room and put the litter box in our kitchen. The box is uncovered, the cats trail litter (and small bits of feces, actually, that I've cleaned up) across the floor, and she cleans it out only every couple days. The odor alone is horrible, but I can't imagine having the litter box (covered or not) anywhere near our food can possibly be healthy.

Thoughts?
