my niece stepped on my a 5 day old kitten at 9 this am. It is still alive, but since then it has been twitching, the mouth opening and closing, the front paws doing a knitting motion, rolling itself over once in a while, and drooling. It's head and eyes are a bluish color. I think it's brain bled, but it has lived almost 10 hours like this. It hasn't eaten all day. I thought about giving her drops of water but don't think she can swallow and don't want to choke her. I don't have the money for a vet nor do I think there is anything they can do.
Can anyone give me some advise PLEASE?

thank you all for your advice. I called my vet and he met me at the office within 5 minutes. He euthanized the poor baby at no cost. Yes the kitten had a mother, and five little brothers and sisters too who are all happy, healthy, and beautiful.

I think it's time to put the poor thing out of its misery.
Hopefully it is in no pain---you'll have to euthanize it. Since you probably are not equipped for this, just take it to a vet. Since you sd you have no money for the vet, go to one you don't know, walk in, say "I found this" and leave.
Sorry don't want to be harsh but the poor thing is suffering.
And it goes without saying that you keep small children AWAY from baby animals.
I'm sorry, and good luck.

If you want to try feeding the kitten, take a tiny bit of evaporated milk (not "condensed") and put a drop from your fingertip on the kitten's mouth. Just a couple of drops of milk might help. Don't use cold milk - room temperature or slightly warm only.

Call a vet or an all-night animal hospital in your area, explain that you can't afford to take the kitten in for treatment, but ask them what you can do.

It's very important to help a tiny kitten to pee, as they can't do this themselves. Take a soft cloth or piece of soft paper towel, moisten it and then gently stroke the kitten's lower tummy in a downward motion (from the belly toward the tail) the area where genitals are. Don't rub and don't stroke upward, use gentle pressure only. Don't put any pressure on the abdomen. Stroke only downward toward the tail, over the genital area. You might need to do this several times to encourage urination. This should be done every few hours.

Hope your kitten will be all right.

Well it's obvious you should take this kitty to the vet. I can warn you though, it won't be cheap to treat it. I would take it in and have it put to sleep and get a new kitten. If you would like to try to save it you are probably looking at 1500$ roughly. And it sonuds like the kitten has some brain or nerve damage, which could mean more expensive treatment, or the kitten will never be the same for the rest of it's life. This lady brought her cat into where I work and 1500 was the price just to fix a broken leg, sonuds like your kitty has more going on than just that.

Take it to a vet, right now! Hopefully the vet can do something. But if not, do what the vet suggests, even though it will be depressing to think about and to lose the critter. I know how it is to lose a cat. But this is a kitten. Keep you hope up, but get going now! And know that I'm praying for you.

The only thing a vet can do that you can't is to put the cat out of its suffering quickly and painlessly. Even if you don't have the money, you should take the kitten in - you can set up payments if you need to, but please get the cat taken care of. If you really don't want to take it to a vet, then take it to an animal shelter to be put down.

Where is the mother cat? If there is no mother cat, how did you get a 5 day old kitten? I would definately take it to the vet or even a shelter, they maybe able to help you for free. There is nothing you can do at your house. It needs help.

If you have a pet you have to have money to take him/her to the vet, or I wouldn't even think about having one. Taking that kitten to the vet is the only thing you should do

Yes, actually the vet can do something, they can put it to sleep...You might not want that but do you have any better ideas? I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost much to put a kitten to sleep and it's better for the kitten!

take it to the vet right away, you could be saving your kittens life, or at least stopping the pain. you might even have to put it to sleep, for your pets sake, it sounds horrible, and i hate the idea, but theres no need to let the pet suffer and stay alive, good luck with the cat, my best wishes

Sorry for the poor kitten... Obviously it is dying and only a vet can save. Yahoo answers cannot resuscitate.
