I didn't mean that I would do it . I was just wondering because other animals get this done.

Can they? well yes. Should they? NO this risks serious harm to the dog.

I wouldn't do it but....I have a co-worker that has two dogs, one which has a weird fetish and likes to chew on the other dogs hind leg. The other dogs doesn't mind but it was getting sores. So she had the 4 sharp teeth filed down so that it wouldn't hurt the other one.

In this case i think it is OK and better than it was done. But for purposes to just not be sharp its not a good idea. They dont necessarily eat with those but they do play with toys etc with them.

DON"T do it, my dog was rescued by the SPCA and had her teeth filed down because she was used as a practice dog for fighters...she suffers all the time, can't chew bones, needs soft food, the poor wee thing can't even eat a large dog biscuit.....people who do these things need a file taken to their teeth and other parts of their body.

why would you even want to do such a thing in the first place? A dog's teeth are designed for them to eat and do normal activities. Leave your dog's teeth alone, it's cruel to file them down.

NO! If you have to ask, the answer is no. Just learn how to handle your dog so his teeth don't get in the way of your comfort. If you can't do that.... I'm sorry to say this, but you shouldn't have a dog.

It probably won't be able to eat that well if you do that. And as dogs get older their teeth wear down on their own. But if you still want to do that you will have to take your dog to the vets.

that is just cruel.....how would you like someone to file your teeth in to points? also..there is a reason why dogs have sharp teeth. so they can crunch on dog food and meat and other food. like bones and such. now......humans on the other hand eat mostly meat and veggies ect. so they have flat teeth.

No. Their teeth do not regenerate. Filing them would lead to tooth decay. Their teeth are like ours. They are just structured differently.

There are probably chew toys that will help (kind of like scratching posts to keep cats claws dull?)

dont do that, it would be inhumane, besides u would probalbly get yourself bitten trying to file them down as it would be extremely painful to the dog.

don't know what this is doing in the CATagory. lol! I suppose you could ask the vet about it but I don't see how that is benificial to the dog.
