Cats - June 2006

Do they need wormed every month, should I worry about disease if he kills mice, how often should he go to the vet,he's already had his yearly shots and wormer but I wasn't sure if the wormer was once a year or if he needs other preventions too. Is it normal that his nose has black dirt or build up in it?

we love our cats dearly and want to take them where ever we go but it is hard to find apts that allow pets in canada especially in ontario is there apartment finders available

She was hiding in some vines in our yard. Just meowing her little head off. She is gray tabby and is missing the hair off her nose. Just can't seem to settle on one name. our other cats are Socka-gray tabby w/white feet & Twinkie-orange tabby.

I have just gotten a male kitten, Ivan, and he is stinking up the garage and my room pretty badly. I try to spray Febreeze regularly, but it's not helping too much. He also bites all the time, will he grow out of that?

2-3 months ago my kitten started to get sick. I had him in and out of the vet at least 4 times in the last month. My vet misdiagnosed him with FLUTD -- treating him with a different food (that he hates) He wouldnt eat and started to lose weight, had problems going to the litterbox, hiding, beyond lethargic, very sickly looking. I took him back again after he lost a whole lb and the vet gave him a urinalysis and pretty much laughed at me for bringing him in when the results came back clear. He got worse in a week - I took him do a different animal hospital that found all sorts of things wrong with him - not any to do with FLUTD -- now my kitty may die b/c I waited to long to treat him. He has everything wrong from being anemic to possible tumors near his kidneys. I am out of $600 from taking him a vet who wasnt really treating him, and tons of food that he is not eating...how do I handle the old vet that misdiagnosed him? Letter, phone call, in person or nothing at all

last week I was going back home after school, and I passed a parked car, and I heard horrible meows. so I stopped to have a peek, then I saw this baby kitten with no normal pupil, huge blue eyes, crying through the window at me...so I though that why the kitten was locked in an old van this hot at noon. then I heard footsteps and I hid behind the car next, and I saw this man, who was my neighbor(never talked to him) slid open the door and wacked the kitty hard on the head with what looked like a shopping bad, and the cat yelled out, then he drove away. so I ran home, and went to his neighborhood and knocked on someone's door to ask if they knew this guy, and the lady told me that the guy is a drunk, and beats up the cat every now and then, and once he banged the cat's head onto the wall so hard that the cat went blind, well that explains the cat's eyes... I want to get the kitty out, but I don't want to call the police the get the guy in trouble...what would you do? as a cat lover?

i want to ask if a person can have cat reflekses and instincs like allways falling on her feet and hands and hearing things that other people can't hear and seeing in the dark. i realy think that people have animal instinks and reflekses me too but do think the same way too

My kitty is 4.5 years old & she has always been with me, if even to the exclusion of all other life forms. We have formed an incredibly close bond since I adopted her from the pound as a kitten.

But.. I've been practically living with my boyfriend for the past 2 months (50 miles away), much to the grief of my kitty.. & I've been depressed without her. I've brought her with me during the week, but she hates his house & his puppy & she seems sad- she keeps herself tucked away in his basement- she runs when she sees me down there. The (male) puppy likes her.. & she likes large male dogs, but..??

Otherwise, she loves my mother's house (where we lived together before) & she gets "some" attention there, but not like what I could give her. She's all over me if I happen to stay the night at home.. so I know she's not "punishing" me.

I really want her to live with me at the new place. But I hate to see her so sad there, too! :< I need a pet psychic!
