Any kind of ointment you put on this, the cat will just lick off and therefore ingest. Aloe vera juice would be safe and might be helpful - but again, it's not going to stay on there for long because she's going to eat it. It sounds like bandaging is needed if she's making it bleed. You really should take her to a vet.

It doesn't sound like hot sauce. I had a dog once who had Lupus, but it took the vet a long time to make a diagnosis. They thought she was getting into poison left out, but there was none and there were bleeding sores from time to time. Have your vet check for immune system problems. Although Lupus is rare in cats it is not unheard of. Also bleeding sores over a period of time could be a sign of cancer in cats. Do not give aspirin, tylenol etc!
Cautionary statement:
"The treatment of arthritis in cats is directed toward the underlying disease. Cats with arthritis secondary to an infection may need antibiotics or other antimicrobials. Chronic progressive polyarthritis and arthritis due to lupus are treated with drugs that suppress the immune system, such as corticosteroids. Sometimes, more powerful immunosuppressive drugs are needed. Arthritis secondary to trauma can be treated with anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin, however, ASPIRIN CAN BE DEADLY TO CATS if not dosed properly. The dosage in cats is very, very low. Consult your veterinarian before considering any medication to your cat. DO NOT GIVE IBUPROFEN, AND ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GIVE TYLENOL TO YOUR CAT. These drugs can be extremely harmful to your cat."

When you say hot sauce - do you mean tabasco sauce, or boiling hot spagetti sauce? I honestly have not ever heard or seen an animal get burned by putting tobasco sauce on their skin. However, to answer your question, i recommend using some sort of ointment such as neosporin. Not only does it help us heal faster, it will do the same for your pet!

Put some Neosporine on a gauze bandage and wrap her leg. This will help her heal quicker and she won't be able to lick it. Make sure to change the bandage once a day.

Wrap it in a cold damp cloth. You can even put some antibotic cream on it (the cloth), unless it's an open wound. That will help it heal and keep her from licking it.
