Ok, so I know some turtles have salmonella. Which types tend to have that? Also, what is the difference between the care of a turtle vs. a tortoise? How expensive are they to keep? How often do you clean their living area? What do they eat? I am doing research to see if they would be a good pet for me. Thanks.

just wanted to hear other peoples thoughts..so thought I would repost the question

Just when you think you have seen it all~ Rent a Dog... how awful is this? What does it do to the animals?
Take a look at this link... http://www.flexpetz.com/

Who on earth would rent a pet.. We rent ours for photos but this is a pet you take home for a while and when you are tired of it..or if you want to try another...you just send it back

CRAZY

at least they seem to provide good medical care... I think

I personally think this is unfair to the animal... you never know if the person is going to be abusive.. will they give the animal proper care... what will they expose their rented pet to?
dogs are not cars... regardless of what people think..they do have feelings and they do love their people

A new neighbor who works nights has moved in across the street. He claims my dog barks all day long. My next door neighbor says he barks when someone walks in front of the house or steps in to my yard--just like he always has. Any solution beside kenneling my dog 12 hours a day, which is what I am doing now? I have never had a complaint in 7 previous years.

I have tried yelling & screaming at the cat. I have chased it away & I have tried spraying it with water when I see it in the yard or near the back door. Please tell me what I can do! The rats keep getting bigger and bigger.

I will be buying a male pure bred lab. He will become standerd size and will eat the "standerd amount". He will be 8 weeks old when I get him, and all expenses are generally paid by the breeder before 8 weeks. So, how much money (please break it down) will it cost me over the time of 10 years. Please be specific in exactly what will take all the money. I want the cheapest plan, but still good. Please show each individual expense so I know why it is so much. Also have a total for each year. Do not include sickness. Just everything else. Thanks!

Got a 12 gallon tank (Eclipse 12) and we need advice. My son picked a long fin black skirted tetra & 2 gold skirt tetras to start. The gold skirts are picking on the long fin black skirt--it spends most of its time hiding. Will adding 1 or 2 long fin black skirts help, or should we pick different fish to complete the tank? Ideally my son wants to add 2 longfin black skirts, a platy, and a cory catfish-thoughts? We've read conflicting reports about whether or not platys and corys need to have more than one of their own kind.

Thanks for all suggestions!

I am in need of some help. I am getting a new foster that has really messed up teeth and will likely need them all pulled? Has anyone ever had to deal with this? She is still fairly young, but her previous owners have allowed all her teeth to rot to the point that they are causing her a lot pain, so I think she needs them all yanked.
Any advice here on how to care for her if you have had experience with this?
Thanks.

I'm wondering why you have to actually trot around a ring in a competition to have your dogs conformation judged? If Shows are all about how to tell the difference in quality dogs and less than ideal dogs why do you have to actively compete with other people for it? Why can't judges charge a fee for you to bring your dogs to them to have conformation check and approved / rated or denied based on an individual dog? I thought shows were to determine if a dog was up to the standard rather than just better than another dog. If it's only for conformation, then why are certain colors disqualified from the start? I'm not ranting,,I'm seriously wondering why a person that doesn't want to actively compete with other people can't have their dogs judged individually against the standard ,by a panel of judges, instead of against other dogs? Or is there a such thing that I just haven't heard of?

2. Shes old so traveling may be hard on her.
3. Shes shy if thats possible
4. about how much would it cost?
5. Is it Safe?

I have shared my home with parrots for many years and once in my younger years I was a manager of a carriage company. Needless to say I have been around many parrot people though not many private horse owners other than those I just happen to bump into in casual conversation.
My question stems from this:
I have met too many people over the years... too many people to count... that tell me that they used to have a horse when they were a kid or that they once had a (name a kind of parrot).
Where are they now? Where did they go. I am sure that many of the birds died as they are easy to kill with improper care... but what of the horses?
Where are all of the childhood horses and the ponies that the kids outgrow?
I am not implying anything here as I honestly don't know. I have assumptions but I don't like them so I thought I would just come out and ask.
Educate me please!

I just wrote about Harley being so sverely sick. I wasn't able to write the whole darned story because this site doesn't let you write so much. I asked the vet a few times while she was checking out Harley if it was a virus called ParvoVirus and she told me "no, that it was only a mild case of a stomach virus" and to give him antibiotics and an oral cream to help his diarrhea. So, if anyone else wants to be crude about my situation don't say anything at all, because this was not My Fault because my puppy got sick. I did the best that I could for him. The day after he seen the vet, he did drink a bit of water and even moved from his sick bed to come and lay with me and my boyfriend. So that was supposed to be a sign that he was feeling a little better. There was no blood in his poop until I woke up to him dead and found red diarrhea in my bathroom on the floor. Sorry that I trusted my vets word that he would be okay where apparently he was not.

Hi,
Went to the RSCPA (in the UK) today and reserved a beautiful ginger kitten who i've already fallen in love with!
Anyway, obvsiously they carry out house checks to make sure you're suitable, just asking if anyone has had a house check from the RSPCA and what they look for?
We have our own home (not rented) that's nice and clean so we should be fine, but is their anything specific?

Thanks!
