A new neighbor who works nights has moved in across the street. He claims my dog barks all day long. My next door neighbor says he barks when someone walks in front of the house or steps in to my yard--just like he always has. Any solution beside kenneling my dog 12 hours a day, which is what I am doing now? I have never had a complaint in 7 previous years.

A couple of my neighbors turned me into animal control because my dogs barked too much.

The head of Animal Control came out herself to check it out. We stood at my fence & she watched the dogs for a while. She told me that dogs bark, that is what they do & that they did not bark unnecessarily. They barked when someone is walking down the street or someone pulled into my drive.

My dogs are trained as fence dogs ( they raise hell when there is someone on the street.) And there are so many dogs on my street that the barking starts at one end & continues all the way down until the intruder is out of sight.

No problem. She said. Dogs bark & mine didn't step out of line the whole 45 minutes we stood & talked. She said it was no different than her yard.

Tell your day sleeper to get something for white noise & problem solved. Dogs bark. No if, ands or buts. Direct from the horses mouth. Dogs bark.

Some people are complainers. Really they exaggerate. If you haven't had a complaint in 7 years prior to this new neighbour then I would tend to think this neighbour is a little off the wall. However, I would look into it. A noise disturbance I believe if the dog barks for 15 minutes straight daily. You might want to check with your local authorities. Is your dog in the house or outside??? If in the house I wouldn't worry about it too much. If outside then you have a bigger issue to deal with. What is your dog like when you are home? That will give you a good indication of how he acts when your not.

If the dog is barking I would block him away from windows. We don't allow ours to be able to sit by the window when we are not home she is not crated but locked in the kitchen. Try something like that.

maybe get your neighbour to write down how many times she hears your dog bark so you can get some kind of idea how often the dog barks, my dog done this every time i went out, my neighbour complained to me and i told her to tell my dog by her name to stop! this worked with my dog but i know you have more serious problems, that person complaining is a jerk. ask all the neighbours around you if your dogs barking is annoying anyone, if the answers no then leave your dog at home. i would.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://tr.im/dupnI

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Try tape recording your dog to see just how much he/she is barking. Your new neighbor just might be a grumpy person. Otherwise maybe muzzle the dog. My youngest dog has to be muzzled when we leave b/c if we don't he'll chew and destory things, he has sepration anexity and he did crate him but he destroyed that (it was metal by the way). I know its not the same but it could work for the barking.

Barking collars, get some dog training. And dogs don't bark all day, only when they feel they need to.

tell your neighbor to pipe down and stop being a nuisiance . Is there something they do that the neighborhood complains about ? do you have a home owners association ? If so then I would report them for being a nuisiance neighbor and they will fine them . If they get enough fines levied against them they will be asked to put their house up for sale and leave . I know my mom lived in a neighborhood like that and they had to get rid of several nuisiance neighbors . they were trashy and had several junk cars all over the lawn . they had to go !!
good luck and god bless you .

tell you complaining neighbour that no one else backs up his/her claims so that your sorry but you're not going to upset your dogs routine unless someone else complains.
