just wanted to hear other peoples thoughts..so thought I would repost the question

Just when you think you have seen it all~ Rent a Dog... how awful is this? What does it do to the animals?
Take a look at this link... http://www.flexpetz.com/

Who on earth would rent a pet.. We rent ours for photos but this is a pet you take home for a while and when you are tired of it..or if you want to try another...you just send it back

CRAZY

at least they seem to provide good medical care... I think

I personally think this is unfair to the animal... you never know if the person is going to be abusive.. will they give the animal proper care... what will they expose their rented pet to?
dogs are not cars... regardless of what people think..they do have feelings and they do love their people

Uck, how horrible. I don't even like leaving my dogs with licensed boarding staff! I don't care how good of medical care these dogs receive, it is incredibly unfair to bounce them from home to home and have no idea what happens to them. And what happens when they're too old and nobody wants to rent them out? Horrible.

I can see how a therapy dog can help people, but to RENT one? People who have therapy dogs will take them around to see people, but they live with an owner. I can see why these people think they might be helping shelter dogs and people who can't keep a dog forever, but I don't think this is the best plan. This is why I foster so much, so I can have another animal in need for a time without collecting a hundred pets myself, but it is always the goal to find them a forever home once they are ready. Someone posted a question about "Puppy Parties" a while ago too, seems like good intentions gone astray, or money grubbing. If you want to help a animal in need temporarily, you should go walk some shelter dogs or foster for a short time instead. I just hope these dogs are well taken care of at the very least.

I think this is awful! I am sure the dogs are well cared for as far as medical care, food, shelter and such, but the dogs would never get security or be able to develop a real bond with anyone and that is what dogs need to be truly happy! I think it is just sad and in poor taste all around. It's basically teaching people that dogs are disposable, I mean, you would never see RENT A KID, and you shouldn't see RENT A DOG for the same reasons.

Out of all the stupid ideas people have come up with, this has got to be one of the worst. It's mean and unfair to the animal. Why would you just rent a dog to see if you like it or not, and if you don't, send it back? People should BUY their dogs for life, and if they don't like it, it's their fault for not knowing the responsibilities of having a pet.

I think that that is terrible for the poor dogs! Imagine moving to a new house like every five weeks. That would be terrible! I totally agree with you. They do have feeling, and love people.

In one way it is therapy dogs taken a step further. Also these are the people that may buy/adopt a dog on impulse then not have the time needed for the dogs needs.
That said would I let me dog do it?Heck no.

that should be considered animal cruelty and abuse and I think anyone who does this should be charged with such in a court of law . things in this world make me sick and this happens to cross my mind as one of the sickest things I have heard of in a long time . to you good luck and god bless.
