I found a little brown bug crawling between the white hairs of my cat's chin. Could this be a flea? My cat is an outdoor cat, so I know that the possibility is high.

My question today deals with confirmation. I don't know how many times, when I've seen questions about breeding, the answers also state the dog needs a championship in confirmation. I'm not against confirmation shows, I do it. What I want to know is do we place to much emphasis on it and not enough on temperment and working ability? I know the Shelties coat today is nothing like what it was originally bred for. They were bred to endure harsh Scottish weather while herding sheep. How many shepherds do you know wanted their dog to have the biggest fullest coat to make it prettier. I've also seen champion confirmation dogs that their temperment is way off, or they are just brainless. But you could have the smartest, best tempered, best working dog and people would tell you not to breed because it's not a confirmation champ. So do you think we need to take less emphasis off confirmation, and put more on temperment and working ability?

I have a young male bearded dragon. He is 12'' [1 foot] long.

He since i've had him, i never fed him pinhead crickets. I feed him the 5week old crickets. They are not full adults, no full wings or anything.

But i was wondering if im over feeding him. I feed him abt 15-20 crickets about 2hrs after i turn his light on.

Then i give him a salad somtime in the evening. But no food 2hrs prior to lights out. [non-iceburg lettuce]

Does his diet seem okay?

Also, is there anything specific food, or supplement that i can give him to make his poo more "firm" ? Most times its a little liquidy, but then hardens.

I do dust his crickets, and i have have that vitamin supplement that goes in his water. Butis there anything else i can do to make his poo a little less...rancid?

****ANY other [necessary] info that you feel you'd like to share is great too. Thanks ****

My mother and I recently rescued a cat and now we have another! This one was very bad off, matted fur and so thin you can feel all her bones and joints just by brushing you hand over her, we didn't think she would live the night. We called the vet, but we can't get an appointment for two weeks. We are feeding her wet cat food and a bowl of water, but is there any high calorie human food we can give her so she can gain weight quicker?

I really get pi**ed off when small minded people call pitbulls evil, nasty, and everything else, I can assure you I have two and I have two kids and you will never get a better dog, they are loyal, loving dogs who only want attention, stop believing every thing you see in the papers, its proven that collies and retreivers attack children way more than pits, a recent study has proved pitbulls are the most stable dogs around kids and totally believe it! Im no chav or an idiot who fights my dogs, I love animals and pitbulls are like any other breed its how you bring them up, its sick what these dogs are classed as because of stupid shallow minded people, i know chavs give them a bad name but dont blame the dog, and by the way the most my pitbulls would do to anyone or any animal is lick you and want cuddles, there even scared of my jack russell for god sake!

A girlfriend of mine has a 2 yr. old Pit/Bullmastiff mix. I cared for him while he was a pup, and he was an angel. She did not keep up with his training and socialization when I stopped sitting for him. He wears a prong all the time, is rarely (if ever) walked or exercised, and her BF disciplines him physically. Because of all of these factors, he has become very wary of strangers (he lunged at my Mother during a visit) and extremely animal agressive. I've tried to help my friend turn all this around, but she hasn't th time to work with him. I have my hands full with 3 dogs of my own, so I can't help. She invites me over all the time, and I always make up some excuse not to go, because I'm afraid to be in the room with a dog that unstable. I used to take the dog with me and my dogs for rides, but I can't anymore due to his unpredictability. My friendship is suffering b/c of this situation. How can I explain to her that something needs to be done. She's about to have a baby & I'm scared

She's currently in a really big one, but she's not that active, and her tank takes up so much space, so i was thinking about downsizing. Is it big enough for her, and also, would she get depressed if i switched her into a smaller tank??

he's a little russian tortoise and lives in an underbed storage box (not under an actual bed:). it's almost transparent so i stuck photos of plants etc from magazines on the outside with sellotape but he seems to think he can get through. does anyone have experience with that? would some tape instead of the pictures be better - it would be stuck form the outside, but i suppose without the gap which is always there between the photos and the box. i hate to see him trying to get out like that :(

We adopted a 2 year old black lab/ basset hound mix about 3 weeks ago. He's doing well with toileting but he is a crazy dog inside the apartment unless we have the prong collar on (exercise is not the problem, he goes to the beach and/or get 1 1/2 hours of walks a day). When the collar is not on, he barks at us, mouths/nips at us (he has good bite restraint; he will sometimes do this with the collar on but not as much), he runs around the apartment like crazy, gets into things, gnaws at things, jumps on us and the counters. When we tell him "no!" or "off!" it takes him a bit to respond and he does so with visible frustration (mouths the air, rolls around, barks). He will only calm down when we pet him. When the prong collar is on, he is more sedate, listens better for our training sessions, doesn't bark AT ALL, barely gets into things, and he hardly ever mouths. What is the deal with him (I know why the collar works) and will he ever be able to be calm without the prong collar on

Since there are so many questions on here regarding backyard breeders and puppy mills, I thought maybe we should list the "signs" to look for!

I think that if we list the things that people should look for, that things will be clearer! Can you not only list signs of a BYB or Puppymill, but also a website? If you list a website, explain the reasons that it looks like a puppy mill or a BYB!

As always, this is an educational question. Please do not give thumbs down or any reporting. If there is something that you don't like, skip over it, please! Thanks everyone!

I got a savannah moniter and i think hes going good but i was wandering if i need 2 make changes. this is waht i have: one heat pad on 1 side of the tank and a heat lamp on the same side then i have a UVB heat lamp on the same side as the heat mat and he has 2 large hide boxes on each side of the tank. then he has a larg water bowl and plant in the middle and eco earth soil for substrate. i turn the light off at night but not the heat pad and i feed him about 6 - 7 crickets in the morning and at night. i change his water daily.and spray the cage with healthy habitat daily.
any thing i should change?

I live in a city in a cold climate and my dog's paw pads often crack. Large callous-like chunks sometimes actually break off leaving an open spot on her paw that's really sore for a few days. I wash her paws after walks due to the salt on the street but she won't let me put booties on her. Are there any creams that can help alleviate pain and/or protect the paw from irriation while its healing? What about a doggie moisturizer that might help prevent this cracking and breaking in the future. Thanks!
