Sorry to say this, but he has severe metabolic bone desease, caused by lack of calcium absorbtion. His back is most likely broken. He needs to see a vet to be humanely euthanized. I am so sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this sounds like the disease is in its advanced stage and usually reptiles cannot pull back from this stage of illness, especially with his back being fractured.

Putting him in the freezer is a safe and fairly painless journey out of this world, but it takes a very long time for them to go this way, leave him in there for at least 8 hours. Good luck...poor guy.

If you want to try and save his life you have to take him to a vet and fast, it will be costly but he may recover with luck.

4 yrs ago my son got an iguana from someone. OMG she looked horrible. For a 2 yr old she weighed only ounces and her jaw was off and her legs wouldn't move. Iggy had the same thing. The vet said that the iguana was a few days away from death but told by son so keep Iggy warm...hand feed her small pieces of Collard greens and gave him liquid calcium that we gave her through a dropper. He also gave us powdered calcium to put on her food and sprinkle in her water. Well, Iggy is now about 5 lbs and about 5 feet long, so don't give up but definately call the vet and get the liquid calcium drops.

You need to take him to an experienced reptile vet asap for calcium injections and other treatments. He sounds like he has severe MBD. It is not impossible to treat and reverse, but he may be left with damage. The sooner he is treated and his living conditions improved, the better for his outcome. Here's a list of vets if you need:

Putting ANY animal in the freezer to kill it both cruel and inhumane. Freezing is a horrible way to die, and this method is not approved by the American Veterinary Medical Association. If he is so far gone, let a vet humanely euthanize him.

It sounds more like MBD then vit d ... MBD is treatable, it is a long process but they can get better w/ better UVB tubes.
You need to see a herp/reptile vet that knows about iguanas, it will be costly, and if money is a problem you need to give him to a reptile rescue. But MBD and even vit d can both be fixed, just a vet needs to see your ig to actually tell you what your igs issue/problem is.
Sticking any animal in the freezer w/out knowing what the health problem is and if its treatable or not, is inhuman.
See a vet, see what the problem is, and what your vet thinks it is, and be ready to pay a vet bill, for your iguanas health.
If you want to help raise your iguana, I'd recommend you getting and reading:

He is not too far gone, take him to a vet. It definalty sounds like MBD (metabolic bone disease) this will prove to be lethal if not treated by a vet. Do not euthenize him, give him a chance.
