Everyday when it comes time to vacume my 5 month old puggle tries to attack the vacume it makes it very hard to vacume, any ideas on how to get him to stop without having to crate him?

He is not "mad" at the vacume he likes it and wants to play with it. Even after I put it away he is trying to wrestle with it! He is crazy! He got fixed 12 days ago, Do you think that he will calm down soon?

My puppy used to do this. I would get my mom to vaccum and I wouild tell him to sit and stay and give him treats periodically while the vacuum is going. Now, this only works if your dog loves food. But now when I vacuum he just sits or lays there like he doesn't hear it. Now the broom is another story. lol

Nope crating him is your only solution. My pit would become a WWF wrestler when she saw me bring out the vacume and it would take me for ever to get the job done. So, I started putting her in her crate. Now when she sees be bring out the vacume she goes straight to her crate.

I've heard of dogs who would try to fight vacuum cleaners before.
Your best bet is to confine the puggie, in a crate, or in a room with the door shut.
Now, you might try showing him the vacuum when it's off and telling him 'no!' when he tries to attack it. Then do the same while running it for short periods of time.
The training will take a while- and very few critters will ever actually like vacuums. But it might work.
Good luck!

I used to think my dogs were afraid of the vaccuum but turns out they think it's a toy.
I evan get close to it and they bark ferociously. When I get it out they attack it as I unwind the cord and as soon as I hit the on button they really go nuts biting and barking and clawing it.
I just stand back and let them for a minute and then tell them off and they go lay down in the other room.If they try to come back it just takes a finger and a look to hold them.

My Border Collie puppy does this all the time, it's a good laugh, but if you want your puppy to stop try growling at it and saying NO in a firm voice, if all else fails get a broom!!

My dog (who is two) has done that from the time of birth
maybe have someone else take him into another room and play with him (we have to do that)

When he does it, firmly step on his foot (not too hard, but enough to make him yelp) and maintain the pressure for 3-5 seconds.
This is the best way to reinforce the idea of "this is bad behavior", and is safer than the rolled-up newspaper trick. It will hurt, but not cause injury (don't step too hard, of course)
