I want to put actual rocks in the bottom of my 30 gal freshwater tank. It has colored gravel now. The tank is fairly new and the nitrite and ammonia levels just got to where they need to be. I do not want to mess up the levels again. What is the best way to change this out without loosing all the bacteria that is now built up in the tank.
I do not want to mess up the balance that I now have. so any help would be appreciated.

My dog Chippy just passed away. After 15 years of wonderful memories i can't believe that he's finally gone. Here's my problem, i live in an apartment building and don't know what i should do with his body. I wish i had a house with a backyard that i could bury him in.

Maybe i should just put him in the dumpster? Would it be offensive to other people if he was in there? I guess i could quarter him out (eww), and put him in some trashbags. I don't know what to do, help!

N-e ways back to the question part, i added 2 mystery snails to my tank but do they poop alot? Or make alot of mess?

Ohh and if i get a turtle what does it need? eat? drink?

And I gave it a large enclosure (around 8 feet by 4 feet) and I gave it all the things it has in the wild in its habitat...would it be able to live happily

I mean, if the thing is kept is a rather large habitat, is kept away from danger, will always have proper healthy food, and won't risk getting hit by a car, wouldn't it be happy

I would like a box turtle, but my dad wont let me buy one, only if I find one....I think this is dumb because you shouldn't keep wild animals....but like i said, if it is kept the way i described, wouldn't it be just like its in the wild?

The vet says it will be 30 days before we know anything for sure, but I'm wondering if the fact that she feels pain and can move her tail indicates that the nerve damage is minor and can be repaired? Also, the pain she feels on her butt appears to be quite intense judging from her crying and there are times when she refuses to use her hind legs while walking. Also, she does not want to lay down and has slept while sitting. There's so little info on the Web about this that I'm hoping someone can help. Thanks

Right now I have a 10 gallon cycling for my betta. He's been living in a crappy 1-1.5 gallon tank for a couple of months now and I've decided to move him into a 10 gallon. I want to house him with other fish though. What do you think of this set-up?

1 Male Betta
Harlequin Rasboras (I know they like to school so how many?)
Hatchets (They school too, so how many?)
Mollies (how many?)
3-4 Cory cats
6 bleeding heart tetras or 6 royal black emperor tetras

Any suggestions would be appreciated or if you have a completely different setup that you think would work better, let me know. I'm just trying to get fish that are compatible with my betta and fish that I don't already have. I have another 10 gallon community that houses 3 cories, 4 neon tetras, 3 oto cats, and 1 dwarf gourami. So I tried to come up with a different setup.

I have an almost 3 year old son and a 16 mth old daughter and I would like to get them a puppy. My kids' babysitter has a dog and they love playing with her. I know that they would love to have a dog. But I don't know what kind would be good for small children.

It's raining at my house and it never rains cuz i live in Southern Cali, but im not sure if my chickens need protection from the rain. They have a tiny table that they can go under, but it doesnt really shelter anything. Do they need shelter from the rain?.

So, Mimzy McMegaClaws (female siamese mix) got spayed yesterday. Her brother Charles Windsor Goldsmith the Second (male siamese mix) got neutered a week and a half ago. Charles came home and scarfed some food and was ready to play. Mimzy was very kind to him.

NOW, poor Mimzy has an elizabethan collar (cone) on her head and Charles is following her around the house taunting her. As if she doesn't feel ridiculous enough with a cone on her head, her brother has to chase her around sniffing her hiney and growling and hissing. She's being a sweety, but he is being a total butthead. I took the collar off so I could scratch her ears and let her eat some food (watching carefully that she doesn't mess with her stitches) without maneuvering around the collar.... and he STILL growls. She smells like the vet and I know he'll settle down in a few days. It's just.... poor Mimzy! She just curls up in the hallway blinking at him while he growls at her. At least he's not trying to mount!!!

for all you people who are replying back to me with nasty answers i would just like to say I am not breeding me dog for money at all and this is a website designed to answer questions so............ my dog is 65 dys pregnantand has been off her food for two days,is very restless and panting,is seeking alot of affection and keeps going into her welping box,i have just taken her tempreture and it was just under 101 farenhiet. i live bi this woman that takes drugs and she breeds her cats over and over again like the sisters with the brothers and the mothers with the sons ect and she enjects them with drugs.there woz this one cat and he woz sat on the side of the pavement and he couldnt wake up he died later we tried to help him he has whip marks and has been kicked a few times we got the r.s.p.c.a. onto her and she wouldnt answer the door so they gave up!!! i think that isnt right but there is nothing i can do!!my next door neighbours anre the same they have 12 and the oldest cat is 8 and i have to feed him every day because they dont.

Hi. I am thinking about training my dog for obedience or dance competitions. I was just wondering what the different rules are and what is expected. What gains more points and what causes penalties to be issued? Is there any competitions that you would recommend near Chicago?? Thanks so much!!
