It's raining at my house and it never rains cuz i live in Southern Cali, but im not sure if my chickens need protection from the rain. They have a tiny table that they can go under, but it doesnt really shelter anything. Do they need shelter from the rain?.

Chickens are birds. Birds have feathers that are water resistant. So if it's just a shower, don't fret. If it's going to be doing any serious raining, yes, they will need shelter. You didn't say how many chickens you have, but make sure the shelter is open all around the edges, or they will pack into it and literally smother each other to death.

They can be out in the rain and it will not hurt them.
Mine sometimesspend most of the day out even if it is raining.
They have a coop to go in at night.
Some times they hide inside but many days I see them out waddling around in the rain looking for worms.

Yes, they need protection. Dry place to roost. You want to be in the rain all day? Or any rainshower at all? Whats a chicken coop for? You give them nest boxes at least? Go sit under the tiny table with them, are your feet getting soaked?

Your a horrific chicken owner.

Now your chance to fix it.

they need something they can get under if it pours, light rain wont hurt a thing but if it pours .. I live on a farm and we have about 45 chickens, and we sometimes find a drowned chicken out in the yard after a large rain, so I would recommend getting them something to get under and roost when it rains, especially if they aren't used to the rain.

How old are they? very young birds, or birds who are going thru moult, need protection from getting chilled. Rain in and of itself won't hurt, but let a chicken (or turkey, or guinea) get chilled, and they die very quickly.

Healthy adults who are not going thru moult should be OK during a brief, temporary rain.

They need some sort of shelter, anyway. Don't you have predators in your area (foxes, 'coons, owls, cats, dogs, weasels, coyotes, children)?

Well they're not domestic turkey's. they will be fine their feathers will protect them. But if your worried about it build them a simple coop. Made with 4x4 posts and plywood roof slanted. The slant is for rain run off and make purchases for them. It also provides them with shade for the warmer months.
