He cuddles up to me, and finds a place to tuck his head in and falls asleep. He also follows me, and when we walk he stares at me the whole time. Also I have a problem with him.You see we have 2 puppies, a husky/sheppard mix, who is 6 months old, and a small what I think may be a pit bull terrier, who is only 6 weeks old. He is the one who cuddles up to me. Well the pit bull, Munchkin, seems to only respond to our other dogs name, Whitey. How can I make him come to his own name?

I have a 9 month old mix and just recently got a 3 month old mix. They are both females. When I fed them, the little one would sometimes try to go up to the older ones food bowl while she was eating, and the older one would growl and snap, but not bite or continue to attack. Seemed like she was just trying to show her what was off limits.

Now, lately, she has been doing it with toys. If the younger one tries to play with the same toy, she will snap at her.

It hadn't become too much of a problem until my older pup started her next training class. Now, she is aggressive with the treats there. When the trainer is working with two dogs, including my older pup, and they are doing what the trainer asks for the treat, my dog will actually kinda attack the other one if it gets too close to the treat. She never hurts them, she is only 25 pounds, just kinda snaps at them. I definately do not want this to continue... any ideas on how to get it to stop???

I have two older rat terrier dogs, one is 5 and one is 7. I cousin asked me to take a 10 week old puppy from them because they can't keep it. It is half rat terrier and half Jack Russell. It is a fiesty puppy and always wants to cuddle with the older dogs. It is about 16 weeks old now and is getting better but how do I get the other dogs to be more accepting of it?

It's amazing. People come here and ask a question.

Let's keep it simple. Let's say they ask about how to train their dog.

Other's come on and tell them to take their dog to an obedience school, or class.

They then get MULTIPLE thumbs down for that reply. I'd love to see the system changed, where you had to prove you have some knowledge to start rating the replies.

My other favorite one, and one of my sensitive areas, is when people come to this site and start asking for help because their dog has just bit another dog, or worse yet a person.

You then get folks here giving all sorts of idiotic advice that not only wouldn't solve the problem, but could potentially make the situation worse. As in the dog could cause severe damage to someone in a subsequent bite incident.

I have to wonder if the anonymity of YA was removed, if this same bad advice would be given out. How about if they sued both YA and the person who gave the bad advice?

My one and a half year old Shih Tzu will poop 3 times a day. He lets me know when he needs to go out, but isn't that kind of often to go? He weighs between 17-20 lbs, big for the breed and I give him a cup and a half of dry food a day, part in the AM and the rest at suppertime. No table scraps, occasional dog treats but not on a regular/daily basis.
Sometimes he will go twice on one walk too. It just seems like a lot. They are normal poops.

I adopted 2 cats, a 3 year old neutered male and a 1 1/2 year old female. The female went into heat this week and the malekeeps trying to get with her. Is this normal or do you think the male wasn't really fixed?

I am a newbie at this. These fish were handed down to me so i already had them and moved with them. There wasnt much i could do until a local pet store offered to take them. Basically my next question is about the ammonia lock. What if your water supply has ammonia in it? I heard that can happen. Im going by this sheet i got out of a starter kit for freshwater fish. I could be dumping ammonia in on my water changes if this is the case. My brother told me ammonia lock is not bad the ammonia might just come back...it says it protects the fish...obviously im just trying to do anything for my fish i can i realize its a process and you just have to wait but i dont want my fish to die and then sit there and wonder if it was something i did wrong or something i didnt do. cant you get special tests that rule out the ammo lock. ? My ammonia is off the charts so obviously its combinding all the ammonia even neutralized ammonia from the product. My ammonia and nitrates are soaring

I was doing research on the net and one of the side effects is diarrhea. I have kept her in today in hopes that she will poo and I can examine it (yes, gross, but that's what parents do)!

My question is (I am calling my vet today) if she is having diarrhea, is it safe to just cut out the treatment entirely? She hasn't been on it long term, which is when they should be weaned off of it, but I just want to be sure that if I cut it out entirely I won't be making life hell for her.

Mine are almost like alarm clocks....4am. They have a built in timer on them. They want out at 4 and 7am. At night it's before and after dinner and twice before bed. During the days, when I am home we go to the park at 11am and then for a walk at 2-3pm. If I am gone, my daughter takes care of them.

Should I make special accommodations, as they are rather strong dogs (one is a puppy, but he's, if anything, at least as strong as his momma). Momma is a boxer and son is a boxer/mutt and is taller than she is. I have a large tree (with two opposite facing large trunk branches) about 40-45 feet from my raised porch and am considering running two lines angled to stanchions on the back and front of the porch (no access to stairs or obstacles). I don't think they can jump up onto the porch, as it is raised about 4 to 4.5 feet and I've never seen them try it in the past, although they can jump off the porch.

Do I need extra strong run lines and drop lines for safety, or are the standard dog run lines sufficient? The boxer's former owner had trouble keeping her tethered and she is used to taking off after wildlife. I take them out on leashes to walk currently, but I'm worried they're not getting enough exercise, and I can't let them run free. Any advice? First time trying this.

My woof-woof loves ice, but a friend of mine suggested that he can chip his teeth. I tend to disagree; my thought is that tooth enamel is harder than ice and therefore unlikely to chip. What do you think?

He was given to my son and then my son moved and could not take the fish. I hate fish and I do not even want to fish him out of the tank. The tank is a 10 gal which is too small for him anyway, but the fish store owner said that is fine that he will only grow to accomodate his surroundings.

Anyway, I do not want him. Will a store take him back? I would say that he is almost 4 yrs old. Or should I just put an ad in for someone to come and get it for free? (I hate to be ignorant, but fish tanks give me the willies, I don't even look forward to emptying it. I did not get this tank for my son, someone else did)

Bearing in mind that we have three young cats and two children of 9 and 6. I have an allergy to certain dogs in that it makes my eyes sore and puffy, but it only appears to be a reaction to labradors and retrievers. Can anyone recommend a breed that wouldn't exacerbate my "allergy" and that get along well with cats and children, or indeed any breed to avoid.
