She is the most incredible little thing....she's 9 weeks old, had her first shot (and booked for her second). Is there anything special I should know about Beagles, their disposition, behaviours, etc?

I have a 28 gallon tank with 2 goldfish in it. They will be just about 2 years old here soon.

Recently while cleaning the tank, one of my "carbon cartridges" that are part of my undergravel filter came apart spilling little pieces of charcoal or whatever is used in them into the gravel. I cleaned it all up very quickly, but in the last couple of weeks the fish are becomming covered in black. It looks almost like they are wearing war paint on their bodies/face.

Are my fish in danger? They won't let me touch them to try and clean it off. Has anyone heard/seen something like this before??

And just for the record, my tank doesn't rely soley on the ug filter. I have a regular filter with the tank as well.

Any suggestions??

I'm not sure I have a real strong opinion either way, but what do you think?? Why do YOU choose to adopt or buy from a breeder? I have both - I have one purebred dog (chihuahua) from a reputable breeder and one shelter dog (lab/shepherd mix).

My friends asked me why I decided to search for a chihuahua breeder instead of going to the humane society again and I had to admit that I wanted to know my dogs lineage/health history. I have no intentions to breed her though, so she will be spayed in a month.

Although I love my shelter dog, she was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy and will likely need to be medicated the rest of her life (she's almost 2) and continue to have annual blood work done to test her levels. I hardly believe that if I would have gotten her from a reputable breeder (not that they breed mixes, but you know what I'm saying), she would have epilepsy. I know purebred doesn't necessarily guarantee against illness, but you know what they're predisposed to.

We took in a 4 y/o dog that is well trained and his old owner had passed away.He has been a "wonderful" dog. To our kid's and everyone he meets. He even listens to everything we say only after a couple day's, he follows us around off leach in public and everything. He has been more then the perfect dog. Except he has growled a couple times to our cats. One cat more then the other because she thinks she is boss. Our younger cat growls at everything new until she gets used to them. She still growls and hisses at our other dog who she's been w/ for 5 yrs. Our older cat doesn't care about anything and is just around!
Well last night the dog was laying down beside us. My older cat (the sweet one) Minding her own business as usual. Walks slowly threw the living room from a far distance not even looking at the dog. He sat up and watched her walk threw then slowly he stood up and started walking even slower towards her. She turned and looked at him like she was going to sniff him. Then he started growling really loud. She got scared and backed away hissing. He jumped at her and they fought a little. Our younger cat hear's this and comes flying out of the other room and jumps on "OUR OLDER CAT?" After realizing it was her. She turned and jumped on top of the dog. I yelled "no" he turned away. My younger cat still pissed off started howling. He turned right back and went after them again. They didn't hurt each other but Again after we yelled "NO" He stopped and came over to us hovering the ground looking ashamed he did this. He walked over and sat down, looking scared like he thought we were going to hit him or something. The family of his old owner told us that he has never shown aggression ever and that he has always been the sweetest dog? This confuses me and makes it hard for us to figure out what we should do?
Any un negative opinions besides "get rid of him?"

I know that a lot of hummingbirds were captured for their feathers, but other than that, what were some other reasons?

Does anyone know what year the hummingbird was classified as endangered?

Thanks in advance! =]

This may sound silly, but I know how kitties get a little wacky on Cat nip, but what does it actually do to the cat? Is it like cat pot? (I guess if so...) Do they get the munchies? Or is it like how after you've been drinking you get a little crazy? It isn't bad for them, right?
OK, I know. 100 clueless questions. My kitten is too young to use it now, but I am just checking out info on it for when he gets older. I don't want to harm him in any way.
TIA for your answers! ;)

my kitten started a new thing with her dry food last night- scooping them one by one out of the plastic bowl, playing with them and eating them.

Is this a sign she doesnt like her bowl or was she just being extra playful?

Which is the best cat litter to buy? Dr. Rosenfeld on Foxnews said the kind with sodium bentonite is harmful and then somebody else said Feline Pine it toxic. Which is the best kind? I have no idea who to believe.

Just curious to hear opinions. I am horrified by waht happens to animals. I grew up in foster homes, and im glad that i wasnt put to sleep like an animal is. I think less tax money should go to felone's in prison, and the tax money should go to the animals to get them neutered/spayed.

I just purchased this product for my pet. I see a change in her behavior already. She no longer bites or scratches her skin. She was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange but the dips didn't work. This product was recommended, but I haven't read any testimonials about how well this product works. Any comments would help. Thanks to everyone in advance. :)

I am completely baffled. He is almost 3 1/2. He was housebroken at a very young age and learned very quickly in only a few weeks. We have NEVER had any problems with this before. All of a sudden, he has begun to pee in the house. Not often, and usually in the morning.

For instance, I woke up at 7:00 am this morning and took him outside to pee. He pee'd 3 times and seemed to empty his bladder. While I was getting my children their breakfast and dressed, he peed in our dining room on a barstool leg. Not a lot of pee, but enough to make it stink in the room.

He has never done until recently. He was neutered about a year and a half ago.

I am adopting a pregnant pure bred siamese, and am just curious. Apparently she has been seen with an orange tabby, and is getting large. She is coming to me next Monday. And yes she will be fixed after she has this litter. I am just trying to take her out of a bad situation. Thanks!

I'm being serious here. Do people in general know that millions of perfectly healthy, lovable dogs (including purebreeds) are killed each year in shelters? Do they choose to not spay/neuter in spite of this fact? Or even worse, do they choose breed their pet quality dogs and just ignore the problem?

Is it just the people that work with these animals that know the horrible facts and try to help alleviate the situation?
