Cats are great and yes, they do sleep a lot. I'm sure you've heard the term "cat nap" before. That's because cats are always napping. Most cats are more active in the evening and at night. So, if you like to play with your feline child, it's best to do so after dinner time. Although, they do have their moments when they're running you ragged all day!
If you only have one cat and you really like to play with him/her, think about getting a kitten. Kittens are very energetic and one would liven up an adult cat and could give you twice the fun! I've always loved watching two cats boxing it out in the middle of the floor.
Also, a kitten would be great company for a single cat when there's no one home all day. Cats can get bored the same as people do, and they don't have thumbs to surf the web! Just don't take in more than you can afford to take good care of.

They aren't being lazy they just aren't being stimulated. Many cats back in the day were kept around for the sole purpose of riding homes of mice and other rodents. But now that homes are being built more solid and rodents are being kept at bay through pestacides and traps many cats are just around for companionship.
And although I have to say my cat can laze around with the best of them, he does serve one important purpose aside from companionship. He's my ROACH getter! If I see a roach I'll run to get him and he'll take care of the problem for me. And the best part no cleanup! He's my little furry hero!

I have a cat named Tanner and all he does is eat and sleep. They are lazy because they are always up at night time and being lazy is their natural routine. Trust me if cats werent lazy they would be more like dogs.
I call my cat a lazy bum! LOL!

Do you have a cat? Do you not notice it sloping off every night? Between the hours of 10pm and 5 am my cats cant be found, they literally disappear, and then bring back darling little gifts for me to find on my back doorstep in the morning, like headless birds and mangled mice.
They're busy bees really but they're on a different schedule to most of us.

How old is your cat? The older the cat, the less active it will be. Do you play with your cat? Spend a little time each day playing with him, and he'll become more active (and healthier). Also, cats are nocturnal animals. Who knows what he's doing while you're sleeping? ;)

If you had the opportunity to sleep all day, wouldn't you? Its cats general nature, but they should go out and play, be it with the toys in the house or even stuff the find outside.

I wish my cats were lazy too!Mine are always running after each other and jumping all over the place,breaking stuff and sometimes being nasty :) I guess cause they´re still young,i hope they will cool down later....
