I have bought 2 baby water turtle about a week ago. I don't really know what kind of turtle they are. I think they might be red eared sliders but instead of red on the sides of their head it's light brown. Is that any thing I should worry about? Their shells width are about 1.5". One of them is slightly smaller then the other and has a softer shell. I do provide them with a basking area and calcium in their diets. I have noticed about 3 days ago something like skin was peeling off from the slightly larger turtle's neck. Is it caused by shedding? I also want to know if they are sick. How can I tell if they become sick? If you have any answers please answer. I don't know much about turtle so I’d appreciate your help since I want to provide them I the best possible life.

My little brother plans on keeping a snail at home. What is the most nutritious food for a common land snail? Especially for a healthy shell?

Heres a pic:

well my cat died recently. she was quite young and we have no idea how it happened. a couple of months before it happened her tummy became bald and she was sick the day before. when we found her she looked completely normal and looked as if she was sleeping. but we checked her pulse and there was none. does anyone know what could of caused her death?
and also, we have another cat that she knew since she was tiny. this cat seems to be acting very weird and upset, sniffing everything and acting completely different. should we just leave her? or should we do something like get a new cat for her?

8 months ago we adopted a retriever, he's 6 years old, he had a bad life on the streets for years, he was hit by a car and by his teeth you can tell he was poorly fed and taken care of as a puppy.

He of course has bad habits and is not trained at all, we've been trying to train him to pee in a place we have especially for him but he keeps peeing as close as possible to his bed and food/water plates. We take him out so he doesn’t pee inside and he does pee outside but he “saves” some pee to leave it near his bed.

He destroys everything he sees so we have to keep all doors closed to keep our stuff safe. He also can’t be near other dogs without starting a fight. He NEVER responds to a command, he doesn’t play with us, he has never learned anything from us. We actually saw a specialist and she gave us some tasks and tips that we’ve tried and nothing, the dog just keeps ignoring us.

I usually go to work during the week and my year old beagle mix stays home. Today I am trying to work from home and I just want him to sit somewhere in the house and relax- but if he's inside he's at the door barking and acting crazy hyper: he wants out on his 16 foot rope. I put him out and he doesn't want to come back in- I keep going out and checking on him and he's lying down under a bush. I have tried bringing him in several times but he just wants back out to sit (he has water, toys etc).

Is it possible the airconditioning is too cold inside? Or is he just used to being alone in the day? Is this wierd dog behaviour? Usually he'd rather be with me (to the point where he usually wants to be on my lap)

Most times she is OK, but if someone accidently steps on her or she gets around certain people, she acts like a wild animal. She hisses comes at you like shes going to attack and growls constantly. I've had her almost 2 years now, since she was a kitten.

I really need to get a job this summer, but I don't have time to get a "normal" summer job working fast food or at the movies or whatever. So I'm thinking about petsitting. The problem is I don't know ANYONE. I don't belong to a youth group or any kind of place where I might meet people who need a petsitter. So my question is, would you actually call someone that you see advertised on a bulletin board in the library or whatever. I really don't know. If you saw a flyer for a petsitter, what would you like to see on it? If you wouldn't call someone off a bulletin board, do you have any suggestions of where I can find customers? Thanks everyone!

i gave both dogs a flea bath last night, put spray on them after and then some over the counter flea oil. After i did that they started acting really weird! they were fighting and running in circles, just acting weird.
this isn't normal behavior for them. did i poison them? maybe i OD'd them on the flea killer? anyones dog ever do this?

I have not seen her use it since I got her but today I found little tracks in the dirt leading to the edge of the soaking bowl so I think she used it but the water is as clean as can be.

Ive had my Beta fish for about a year and for the last month or so he's been acting sick. He tries to eat, but for some reason cant seem to get the food into his mouth. it's wierd. He's lost all of his pretty blue color and his fins are not as big as they used to be. Ive had other betas beofre and this has never happened. At first, i thought he was starting to die, but with all my other betas they died in like a day. I just feel bad that he's suffering and want to help him if I can. Any suggestions?

Hello,
We have an one year old chihuahua. He is spayed and very sweet towards to humans. His personality is more timid in general. We have had him since two month old.

He is a good boy besides he is very afraid of other dogs. Any dogs, any sizes even his own kind. All he wants to do is running as far as he can. To some dogs, his behavior causes them want to chase him more. We always keep him on the leash when walking outside to prevent accidents.
Can someone tell me how to teach my dog to social with others?

We are planning to go away for a short while at the end of this year and planning to put him to the care center. Really worried about his behavior to get along with others.

Please help
Thank you!

I just got a kitten from the pet store last night. Very sweet and loves to purr. It is timid and when I held it at the pet store it stayed all curled up in my arms and let me hold and pet it just fine. Later last night I noticed that it's tail is broken in 2 spots and it just does not want to wander around much. I do have 3 other cats and they seem to be fiarly cool with the new addition so far. Every time I go to pet him he cowers a bit too. I have to wonder if he was abused.

Any suggestions to get him to break out of his little shell...I know time is part of it.

My puppy is about 3 months old and has been crated at night since she was 7 weeks. She goes into the crate at night on her own and does not whine or cry. She is finally sleeping through the night without a potty break, but I have one problem. She has been gradually waking up earlier and earlier. She first slept until about 6:30 which is early but acceptable, but now she has worked her way to getting up at 5:15. I will let her out like a potty break (no talking, walking or playing, straight outside and back) and then try putting her to bed again and ignoring her, but she just barks constantly until I get her up at 6. I've even started to set an alarm for 6 to associate the sound with getting out of the crate, but that's not working either.

Folklore? I think not, not anymore at least. The only time that I have ever heard a Newfoundland afraid of water is in a MYTHological book! My Newfoundland puppy HATES water. Not just baths, but the pond too! I could have sworn that ALL Newfoundlands LOVE water, can someone explain this to me? Please, if it IS true... How can I get him to like water?
