when they say dandelion greens do they mean the actual "there's dandelions in the yard let me get their leaves for my turttle" greens or is it something else and if not can't i just pick leaves off the ones on my yard?

Yes, the ones in your yard are fine, probably more nutritious then the cultivated ones found in the store. Make sure the area has not been sprayed with a herbicide or pesticide and avoid lawn areas that are exposed to alot of car exhaust as well. The yellow flowers can also be fed.

1. Only RES over about 4" long will eat much of anything green. younger turtles need a more protein-heavy diet.

2. Dandelions are basically the same whether from your yard or the grocery store... as long as the ones in your yard are completely free from chemicals- sprays, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, etc. Those in the grocery store are safer.

They are not the same . The ones in your yard are more bitter tasting than the ones at the store . Taste them and you will see . You might also feed endive , escarole , bok choy , edible pesticide free flowers like roses , nasturtiums , pansies , orchids , and hibiscus flowers squash ans squash flowers

i wouldnt recommend it ingesting dandilions yet grass and green leaves are superb for him/her. i fed mine leatuce till now and cabbage and he lived off that for 18years yet then he died as a results of fact he have been given out of the abode and run over how this facilitates and robust look including your RES
