I usually go to work during the week and my year old beagle mix stays home. Today I am trying to work from home and I just want him to sit somewhere in the house and relax- but if he's inside he's at the door barking and acting crazy hyper: he wants out on his 16 foot rope. I put him out and he doesn't want to come back in- I keep going out and checking on him and he's lying down under a bush. I have tried bringing him in several times but he just wants back out to sit (he has water, toys etc).

Is it possible the airconditioning is too cold inside? Or is he just used to being alone in the day? Is this wierd dog behaviour? Usually he'd rather be with me (to the point where he usually wants to be on my lap)

We go on at least 3 walks a day- usually 4. I guess I just feel bad after the conversation this morning about how awful it is to have your dog tied up outside- he seems to want to be there though...

My dogs prefer to be outside in the warmth and the breeze than in the house where it's cool. It's a dog thing, I think. If he wants to stay out there, let him. Would you rather have him in your face while you're trying to get things done? Take advantage of your alone time.

There's really not anything wrong with your dog, he just loves to be outside, my dog did the same exact thing. My dog was a shih tzu, dachshund mix, and he was hyper too, its common in smaller dogs, they just adore being outside, but when it comes down to the fact of coming inside, they don't want too, but when they are inside, they want nothing more than to sit on your lap and cuddle all day.

Theres nothing wrong with your dog, maybe if you try to take him on a walk at least 3 times a week, this may help also. Also, you can try to use treats to coax the dog to want to come back inside, to show that coming inside isn't a bad thing! :)

My dogs love sitting outside to relax. It's totally normal. I see dogs doing this all the time. The barking part is just because he wants to be outside. He barks because he wants your attention and wants to be outside. My dog scratches at the glass sliding door we have. This signals that he wants in or out.

even when its 95 degrees outside, ill let my dogs out to go to the bathroom and run around and theyll both sit on the cement in the sun (the hottest place). im sweating just standing there but they apparently love it.

it is common. this is new and that they are uncertain. I merely offered a settee and all of them did no longer desire to get on it (it did scent humorous - kind new dealt with scent). i'm particular with the glue and all the padding and new carpet they're merely perplexed. After sometime the canines at the instant are claiming the settee as their new drowsing section. provide it an afternoon.

Maybe he's so used to the routine he doesn't want it disrupted? Just a possibility, I don't know your dog personally, so can't be sure.

Maybe he sees something really interesting outside. Does he like to chase squirrels or birds? maybe he's more interested in that.
