Also, how would you describe a buck, crow hop and all those kind of things to a non horsey person, in simple terms?

My dog, Boo, a ten pound pap may have food allergies. I say this because she allways itchy, and no fleas to be found. Because the cost of special food is irritating, and I don't know what I'm getting, I want to feed her "real" food.

My thought is to brown some ground turkey/beef/whatever, throw it in a blender with a little water and some raw veggies, and freeze in ice-cube trays. Then I can pop out cubes, thaw, and feed along with some (brown?) rice as filler (got the idea from my trainer tonight.) I don't know how much of anything to throw in, though.

Should I cook the veggies? Add garlic as flea repelent? Any recipe I plan to run by my vet, first, but does anyone have one? Raw diet is not so grand an idea for me, as I don't like having raw meat around and the food-cube idea sounds fairly easy in terms of feedeing and prep.

Also, what are the most common canine food allergies? I want to know what to avoid.

Please help. My 10 wk old kitten was kicked by a neighbor boy. I ran out and grabbed the kitty and told the boy's mother what happened. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow, but I am worried about him. His left eye was bleeding, his nose was bleeding and he has just been laying around. He is eating and drinking but I am worried. Any thoughts on what may be wrong? Thank you!

I have been told that adding Java moss to a tank is inviting my fish to breed... is that true?

I have a 10 gallon community tank that thus far has four neon tetras, two croaking gouramis, and a tiny pleco. I am looking to add something else to the tank, as all of my fish are tiny, and there is still a lil space left in the tank. I am torn between another dwarf gourami breed (like the dwarf cinnamon perhaps) or a fun livebearer like the mollies or platies. I have three live plants, and one fake plant. so there are places to hide, and I plan on getting at least one more real plant. I am just not sure which new species would complete the tank best. I want something that will "fill" it as it looks empty right now.

On the bottom of the aquariums that I have there is a sticker and I believe it says that the glass is tempered, I thought it was all tempered but I guess it is not, would the bottom piece be tempered or will float glass work for the bottom of the aquarium as well in building my own aquarium?

I got my puupies third round of his Parvo vaccine and his Rabies shot today. I was wondering how long will it take before it will go into effect and when is it safe to take him to the dog park?

I am getting two kittens who are close in age buy 2-3 weeks difference. I wanted both female but I ended up choosing male and female. This is from the Humane Society and I have to wait until they get spayed/neutered. So the woman tells me that the male cat will not spray and the pee won't smell so bad because they get neutered so young their testorene is very low. Is this for sure? I won't have problems with smelly pee and a boy cat spraying? She said no but I want a second opinion.

How many people here have had a dog, or a pet that they have come completely attatched to and really love?
My dog doesn't have many years in him, and I love him to death. I love dogs, especially jack russells, but when he passes, I don't think I'd be able to get another one. I would feel like I'm betraying him.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I have a pair of cockatiels about 3 years of age. I've had them since they were very, very young. They are tamed, and I know for sure that one is male, the other is female.

The female is a couple months younger, and is Lutino.
The male is a normal grey.

I have a nest box set up for them and everything, when I open it, they mate for about a week, lots of times a day, and lay a clutch of eggs. But they are NEVER fertile.

I let my female lay 2-3 clutches a year, and over the past 2 and a half years, TWO chicks have ever hatched [out of a clutch of three, around christmas time] Unfortunately, due to first-time parenting, they weren't able to properly care for their young.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? I've already asked my vet and he wouldn't give me a straight answer. Maybe there's something I can do?

Whenever people say "Aww", when they look at a picture of a baby cat or a cute looking rabbit, why do they say that? I mean, I think my cats are completely adorable, but I'm not even sure why. Any ideas?

I just got a four month old chihuahua and I have him in a fenced off play pen while I'm gone. His wee wee pad is in with him, along with water and toys. He goes on the wee pad, but also goes on my floor when I have him run around the living room. I want him to be trained to go in the home instead of outside. I'm probably doing everything wrong regarding potty training. I feel bad keeping him in a crate for 8 hours a day and all night, that is why I bought the metal play pen. I was wondering if anyone ever used the Wizdog product which is an indoor potty training apparatus. It looks to be less messy than a wee wee pad. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well i have 4 Corydora Catfishes, 1 Pictus Catfish and a Common Plecostomus. Can any of these fish survive in brackish water? Cause i am thinking about turning my freshwater aquarium into a brackish water aquarium. If i do, i'm not going to add too much salt, so it will be more like just slightly brackish. And does anyone know of any brackish fish species?

ok so lately my cat [about a year or 2 old] has had some little black things on her nose.
it's obviously blood.
she rubs her nose a lot.
she's been sneezing.
she's nursing...4 kittens...about 3 weeks old.
a while ago i tried giving her food and water because she seemed weak, and she didn't want the food and she only smelled the water for a while.
she stuck her paw in the water [she does that to "taste" it before actually drinking it, it cute] and then she just put her paw down and came to me and i just rubbed her head and chin.
i then remembered that her kittens haven't had milk for hours.
so i took her with the kittens and she just left so i gave her a kitten and she licked him...i tried to make her stay but she left and layed down.
she's just laying there.

agh!!!....

Well, what's there to tell? When you're abusing any animal, you're abusing innocent lives. Way too often we see dead animals on the side of roads and hungry and neglected animals wandering scared outside by traffic. I want you to picture this:
You're daughter, son, granddaughter, grandson, or any member family's life being thrown away from not being fed or... or abused by parents, you're seeing a tragedy. A real sorry picture. It's the same with animals. God put animals on our earth to keep us company. He expected us to care for his Creation. So far, I believed some of us failed whether it's about the animals or even littering.
*We see so much garbage in the oceans and waters. You're abusing when you do that. You're abusing sea creature's habitat by polluting. How hard is it to just walk a LITTLE bit farther to throw away our trash and SAVE lives? It's simple. I think the problem is we're just too darn lazy.

I have a betta in a slightly more than a gallon jar. There is white gravel on the bottom and a plastic plant. He seems to be happy, blowing his bubble nest and swimming around, but there is brown junk accumulating on his plant and gravel. What could this be? Algae? I try to change his water once a week with spring water, last time rinsing out the gravel, but the brown stuff came back. I also add a few pinches of freshwater conditioning salt to the water when I do a water change. Does anyone have any ideas what this stuff is? Will it hurt my fishy?

Not all dogs respond that way, but the vast majority of them do. It doesn't usually work on puppies. It works better on adult dogs. Is the tongue flicking an involuntary response to a stimulus, or is the dog just doing it because it feels really good?

I have read through several other similar threads, but i sill can't seem to distinguish male from female

I don't see a gavid spot on any of the fry.
I can't see a difference in the fins.
Their difference in size is minimal.
There are no color differences.

There is only 1 that is obviously bigger than the rest so I tagged it as female.

There are 12 fry and they are now 40 days old, all are greyish in color. Other people said that by now they should start to color and be "sexually" mature! but i still don't see the color.

I don't mind the color as it will come later on, but the sexually mature is what gets to me! if they in-breed there's a high chance the fry will have abnormalities! I don't want this to happen!

Oh I have another younger fry batch, around 1 week old, and there are around 8 of 48 that are darker. What does this mean?

So do any of you know any other way to find out?
Plus is the sexually mature thing true?
Could the female fry be already "seeded"?

My dog had her first litter a week and a half ago. She is still eating and drinking plenty and producing plenty of milk for the 2 puppies. Although she attempts to run around with our other dog maybe once a day, she is still pretty much sleeping/sitting the rest of the day. She also feels hot when I pick her up. When I took her temp, it was 101.4, but I'm not completely sure my thermometer is correct. I assume it's normal for her to still be exhausted all day, but I just want to make sure she is ok!
