On the bottom of the aquariums that I have there is a sticker and I believe it says that the glass is tempered, I thought it was all tempered but I guess it is not, would the bottom piece be tempered or will float glass work for the bottom of the aquarium as well in building my own aquarium?

Float glass is fine most of the one's I've seen are all float glass efforts, i used to make my own as a kid with normal window glass so i would imagine you get the right thickness 10mm or thicker for the bottom and you should have no problem.

Most of your better aquariums are made from all tempered glass these days. Older tanks and cheaper made tanks are not...only the bottoms.

Float glass is just a more uniform glass, but by todays standards, most glass is uniform anyway. I would suggest if you are planning on building your own tank, use Tempered safety glass not just tempered. The big misconception is that tempered glass will not break, that isn't true it breaks. Safety glass keeps it from breaking is dangerous sheets.

The water has weight not pressure. Build your dream! If you are a skeptic, place the finished unit in the driveway and fill it with water. drain and refill when you get it where you want it.
