I have a maltese that is around 2 years, female. Recently, I bought a new maltese which is around 3 mths, male, to accompany my old maltese. However, my old dog is being a little hostile to the new dog, the new pup follows her everywhere, and she runs away everytime he follows her. The new pup licked her bowl once, and she refuses to eat after that. What am i supposed to do to them so that both of them would feel comfortable with each other?

Background on turtle - Shelley - He/She lives with a Siamese fighter in a 20 gallon. Clean tank with a powerhead, filter and ample hideouts . The betta bullies him a little sometimes but for the most part they get along just fine. 3 to 4 inches long has been sick for past 5 days..hasnt eaten anything at all..has tiny dots/ holes in his shell which can be only be seen when he is dry, small whiteheads on shell...applied fungal med ( extremely diluted betadine ) and am keeping his shell dry by letting him in water that only coats his belly and feet lightly... he is completely waterbound and am afraid he will dry up and die if left without water. This morning he ate some bread quite happily. Is this ok? Should I let him eat bread till he eats his usual bloodworm and pellet food again? I am from India and we have no reptile docs here so thats out of the question. Getting my cats and dogs treated is a blessing here.
Any surefire home remedies for treating sick turtles? Help!

I have a horse, 3 rottweilers, a cat, and a hamster. I'm constantly exposed to animals. I also have 8 fancy goldfish. Obviously I don't want cross contamination so I have to wash my hands before putting them in the tank (if I have to, i'm not saying I do this all the time). Is there any soap that would be better than another for me to use? I don't want to get any soap into the tank but at the same time I don't want all the animal germs getting in there either!

Because they need a companion that doesn't eat much? To have one that can fit in their purse? Because you can't put a 150 pound Rottweiler in your lap while you're driving?

I'm starting a 26 gallon Saltwater Tank. Fish only with Live Rock. How much live rock, live sand, lighting(as well as type) will i need for the 26 gallon? Preferably I'd like to keep costs down, I've heard of tanks getting by with just biofiltration and not using a protein skimmer. Other's swear by it. I'll only be keeping 2 clownfish in the tank. In all likelihood, no anenome...yet.

A list of what i need for this type of tank would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's really important that I find this artice. It was on animal planet or something. Some guy's fish couldnt swim anymore so he made a contraption that enabled it to swim. I've googled for a while now and can't find anything. Anyone know anything about this story? Thanks!

About 2-3 weeks ago, I found my 6 year old goldfish at the bottom of the tank on his side. I tested the pH levels which were low but it has always been low since I use distilled water so I don't think that is the problem. The second day, Goldie began to get finrot which cleared up within 3 days of using antibiotics. About that time, Goldie seemed much better, sitting up straight and able to swim strait for about 10 seconds. The first 3 days, when he tried to swim, he would swim backwards for a few seconds and then go back to lying on his side. 2-3 weeks later, he seems healthy but is still at the bottom of the tank but strait up at least. He is going to starve if nothing is done. I have been buying sinking food and have tried lifting Goldie to the top of the tank to eat... which works sometimes

The ammonia level is very low. No outward signs of disease. I've been keeping the water clean. I've been using stress-coat. I feel so helpless, what can I do?

someone told be that even though males will fight, females are actually very tolerant and rather... loving? They get along with other fish and those of their own kind. If I go buy three female betta fish for a 10 gallon tank will they get along great on their first meeting (with the exception of creating a pecking order and determining who's boss)? And will that relationship carry on into their death? I'd like to have betta, but i feel they get lonely by their selves and i dont like to see a fish alone without interactions with other fish. I know a way to get more than one male together without fighting, but it actually takes me breeding a pair and getting rid of the parents, then getting rid of the females and keeping some of the males. That's alot of getting rid of fish! Is 3 females a right number? Or is it possible to get more? (The more, the merrier! I love to have them all different colors! Females can be colorful too! They just dont have as much fin)

I have never had one before, was given these by a friend who did not like them and was afraid they would eat her other fish. I tried to research them but found conflicting advice. Anyone with first hand advice? It seems to constantly be starving. I can't imagine anything else that would survive in its tank. I have to clean the gravel twice as often as my goldfish, and they always seem to be starving also. I can't keep a live plant in the tank because it eats it.

I live on a lake and last summer several times the turtles laid their eggs in my yard in the morning. Later on in the day they were dug up. We have raccoons around but also alot of chipmunks. Since this happened during the day I believe the chipmunks are the culprits. A turtle was laying her eggs in the sand today. Any ideas on how to keep predators away from the eggs? Last year I sprinkled red pepper around the area but that didn't discourage them.

I have two 10 gallon tanks, at the moment one holds minnows from a pond in a pasture behind my house, the other 3 adult guppies and 9 of their babies (I'm planning on getting 1 more male because im not expecting them all to survive, especially the newest) Later on I'm going to throw those minnows back to the pond (probally tomorrow, I cant keep a tank empty for long at all! lol and the minnows arent pretty and attractive at all) and get a male and female betta, breed them, get rid of the male after he mates, get rid of the female after the eggs hatch, and get rid of the female fry so i can have more than one male in a tank together, a nice trick I learned from MM *beams* (I'm so happy for that trick! THANKS!) and I read that Otocinclus go nice with about all fishes and are very friendly and out of the way. At the moment I have one and she use to have another until that one died and I'm getting more. So, how many for the betta, how many for the 12+ guppies? I need them to clean up good!

my 4 mos old yorkie loves her puppy treat (Kong) and each time i give her, her kong treats she always wags her tail around and runs around the house to look for a place to hide her treats. She would hide it in the most funniest place, under the blanket, in tight corners of the house and she always goes around later to look for it. Most time she will forget where she had put it, and sometimes she would lick the area where she is hiding it. It is cute to see her do that all the time but why does she hide them and why only her treats???

I had pom puppies this morning and the small one doesn't seem to be doing good. Can't tell if it is nursing have tried and tried to get it to latch. I have seperated the other puppies to give mom and runt some time alone. She is taking care of it and it is 16 hours old now. Does anyone know if it is alive because it has nursed or do they have to nurse right away. Any ideas on how to tell if it has nursed at all? I have given it some Karo syrup, it is not as strong as the others. If it is still weak in the morning I will take to the vet. I just need to know how to tell if it has nursed at all? I raise horses and I know that if a baby horse hadn't nursed by now it probably wouldn't be alive, are pups the same way?

I'm getting a 7 week old male Beagle puppy on Monday after school (next week) and mom told me to type up a schedule so I know what to do when I get him. Since most of you guys are dog owners or experienced with pups, you can advise me whether my schedule will work or not. Thanks, Tiffany.
KEYS: PPB = Puppy Potty Break
8am: Get up and get dressed
8.10am: Brush hair & eat breakfast
8.20am: Brush teeth
8.25am: PPB
8.30am: Put him back in cage and go to school
I don't know what to do while I am at school but since my dad doesn't work, he will be at home all day (hopefully) looking after my pup. Any ideas for a schedule for dad? He is a bit lazy and won't want to walk him for me.
3.45pm: Get home from school
3.47pm: Feed puppy
3.55pm: PPB
4pm: Play with puppy inside and out (no walks until vaccs finished)
4.30pm: Watch TV
5pm: Play with puppy
5.20pm: Feed puppy
5.25pm: PPB
5:30pm: Watch TV
7pm: My dinner time
7:30pm: Feed puppy
7:40pm: Play with puppy
7:55pm: PPB
8pm: Puppy bed time
8:05pm: Homework and family time
9:15pm: My bed time
DO YOU THINK IT WILL WORK? COMMENTS AND ADVISE/SCHEDULE SWAPS WELCOME! PS. I am 13 - I can only do so much.

I have a 10 Gallon Fish Tank right now , with 3 baby chiclids (2 Convict , 1 Red Devil)

Don't worry i know they need more space , but right now they are still young and have alot of room to swim.

My filter system right now is old , and i have a brand new 20-40 Gallon AquaTech Filter System that i didn't even know i had until like 2 hours ago.

Is it dangerous for my fish to use a 20-40 Filter System in a 10 Gallon Tank?

Will it unbalance the healthy bacteria and keep the tank too clean?

What is the most reliable brand of test kit out there?
I have tetratest kits for nitrite and nitrate, and aquarium pharmaseuticals test kit for ammonia. The latter being cheaper leads me to think that maybe it is not as good quality or are they all the same?

also, for pH, is it ok to buy one of those round ph tables that you keep in your tank which constanly reads the ph levels, or is it better to go with a test kit?

Anyone have any tips on the best way to set up a tank for a green anole? I already have a tank set up but I was curious if there were any particular do's and don'ts to setting up a tank. I have the following equipment set up:

1 8" ceramic heat clamp lamp with a 100 watt bulb (although I can't really seem to find a good place to clamp it.)

10 gallon tank with terrarium liner and a little bit of beaked moss

1 light fixture with a 7% UVA/UVB desert fluorescent light.

Wire mesh top with lid.

Various branches, wood stuff for him to climb on.

Most of the websites have been to don't really tell you how to set it all up, they just tell you what you need.
