About once a month unless puppy happens to get really dirty and please, only use puppy shampoo, not human shampoo as their p.h. balance is different from ours. Good luck with your new friend and enjoy!

Once a month is good for a dog who usually gets dirty a lot. Once every 3 months sounds good for a Pug. They are indoor dogs usually, as they are two small to be kept outside, they are also easy to groom and manage. Your going to need to clean the dogs facial folds daily, as that is part of the daily Hygiene of keeping up with a wrinkle faced dog. Brush daily or weekly to keep the dog from shedding, the more grooming/brushing, the less shedding the dog will leave behind because brushing and grooming gets ride of access hair that can build up or get stuck on clothing and furniture. Brush cuts down on shedding, not bathing. Constant bathing can result in hair loss, skin irritation, and other issues. Dogs don't need to be bathed that much, especially "short haired breeds". Also, NEVER submerge a dog when bathing them, I know this is not what you mean but Pugs need special care, they are prone to breathing issues, so keeping water from their face and daily wiping of their facial folds should keep their faces clean.

ONCE A WEEK! People. Dogs smell like dogs. Ones with oiler coats, like labs or other hunting dogs (oil used to pretect them from water) smell more, but bathing them only makes them produce more oil...which makes them smell more. If you want a dog that doesn't smell then buy a pound puppy! Washing your dog too much will strip its coat of essential oils. Think about those crazy people who don't wash their hair for three years and then it is gorgeous and never needs washing again! Only wash your dog if he rolls in something or you are asking your mother-in-law to dog sit. If sprayed by a skunk do not use ANY liquids as it activates the smelly chemicals (technical term!). Use a mild baby shampoo so as not to irritate the skin or strip the coat.

I've got a two year old pug, and we wash him every 2nd month, but it really depends on the weather and if he's been playing around in the mud or has gotten some kind of smell om him/her. You can also ask the breeder, since they've obviously taken care of pugs themselves. But don't wash him/her too often, as its bad for his/her skin. Good luck with your little pug, as s/he'll steal your heart!

After very muddy or rainy days, or once every three or four months. Dogs don't need a lot of cleaning unles they have long hair. If it is a short hair dog, like a pug, they lose the hair and do not require regular cleaning. They also lick themselves too, not as often or well as cats, but they do.

whenever it's really dirty, other wise dont worry too much about it. it's like a child (sort of). just make sure it's clean, maybe once every two weeks should be good, but as it gets bigger you shouldn't do it as much. actually, my friend kelly has a pug and has had it since it was very little and she's never given it a bath.

About once every week or two. My aunt has three pugs and she only bathes them once a year. Now I think that's disgusting.

When a puppy is very young it isnt good for them to be cold for to long. If you wash your puppy too much in the winter it can be bad for it to stay wet in the cold. However, dogs need washing about every 3 weeks at the least. As long as you make sure that you dry your new puppy well after each wash, you can wash it as much as you feel it needs!!

When they get really dirty. You should NOT bathe them more than once every couple of months and only with a dog shampoo.
