I have two cats that are both around 1 year. Is it possible to train them to use the toilet rather than a litter box, or are they too old to learn?

If they aren't too old, how should I go about training?

Hi - I have an Amazon bird that has worn away a lot of paint from the bird cage. I have bought a new one but it is smaller than the old one so I would like to refinish the old one. Is it safe to just spray paint it with white rustoleum? It has proven a little difficult to find a place that will sand blast and powder-coat a large cage.

I have heard that you can keep them for a year and then give them away. I know that it would be very hard to do and give up but i am willing to try it. Has anybody ever done that? Any sites that tell you about?

Also, i have a dog already and he is 7 years old and since we rescued him when he was about 2 he came with some bad baggage.
My mom does not think that i can train this dog that i want to get because i did not know how to train a dog when i was 7 years old! Now i am 14 and i think i could handle it. I know she would have to do most of the work. Tell me some ways that i could convince her. She thinks that it would be a great thing to do and she is all for it, but it would be a lot of work on her part she says. Is it a lot of work?

So these are the questions:
Does anyone have any feedback on training a dog like this?
Is it a lot of work?
Anyone know of any sites?
How do I convince my mom that i can handle it?
Is it hard to give the dog up?
Do you have the option to keep it?

Can you believe that Micheal Vick was in a pit bull dog fight and he is fighting and making bets and killing his and other people pets? Their are pit bulls in the pound and they are the ones that where in the fight. And no one is taking them.

Vick should go to jail for 2 or 3 years.

I was told by the manager at PETSMART not to use vinegar to clean my carpet after my puppy wets and area. They told me this will encourage the puppy to use the same area to repeat urination and dumps. They said that vinegar does not break down urea? Is that true?
Can you recommend a carpet cleaner that can help erase the scent trail of urine and massive dumps?

I saved this box turtle from someone who could not properly care for her. I don't know what kind she is.
http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l285/esybkoven81/?action=view¤t=1180472821.pbw

I keep her in a 55 gal tank. 1 ft sq of water w/ filter 4 in. deep w/ aquatic plants. 3 1 1/2 ft of reptile grass and the rest reptile bark for burrowing. She has a basking light, UV light and shade area.

She always has small feeder fish to eat, I give gut stuffed crickets bi-monthly.

Everyother day she get a variety of fruits/vegs. I rotate and mix:

Leafy greens
Green peppers
Carrots
Tomato
Peas
Melon
Apple
Orange
Banana
blueberry
stawberry

She likes fruit/veggie organic babyfood and I give her a wet processed box turtle food. Everyonce in a while a weight maintenance soaked dog food.

Anything is better than her previously living in a 10 gal tank with dirt and a dog bowl for water with only iceberg lettuce and carrots.

But I want to know how I am doing?

I was told that because they have FIV they run a higher risk of dying from surgery because if they catch an infection during or after surgery their bodies cannot fight if off due to their compromised immune system and they could then die from this.

Please help me understand this.

Thank you

I'm considering pet health care coverage and I am seeking opinions from people who have it or have had it. Was it valuable, have you used it? Thoughts?

Thanks!

okay so i bought this really pretty female.. she was 4 weeks old and she was fine for a while.

not long after she got lumps and i could feel hertbeats.. she was pregnant and i didnt know when i bought her.. apparently the perstore didnt separate the males from females

anyway.. she had 4 beautiful male babies and all survived.. all healthy... she not pregnant i know again because its been several months and would have gave birth to them already....

my real question.. she still kinda had small lumps on the side of her and they dont seem to be going away... surely not as big as when she was pregnant but still small.... is this normal?

and is her early pregnancy going to shorten her lifespan... she and the little pigs were healthy but im worried now... please help me

thanks so much

I recently moved, so the fish tank became very cloudy, now it is a dark green cloud, seems like alge. Been changing 20% of the water twice a week, not sure if it is working. Is there a faster way to fix this without killing the fish and starting over?

Okay, well I am a 14-year-old girl who has just been granted permission to get my own dog! [woot] I really want a tiny dog that I can 'snuggle' with, that is lively but is also a lap dog who loves to give out their love! I don't want it to be big on barking all the time because I understand that tinier dogs tend to bark, and I also don't want it to have loads of fur that needs to be cut at a groomer constantly. What kind do you guys think I should get? Price really isn't an issue because my parents are willing to buy it for me. Thanks!
