I have a box turtle and I keep her in a 55 gal tank. 1 ft sq of water w/ filter 4 in. deep w/ aquatic plants. 1 1/2 ft of reptile grass and the rest reptile bark for burrowing. She has a basking light, UV light and shade area.

She is about 4 inches across.

Try and research how large box turtles get (try Google), then make your choice based on that. I'm not sure how big they get to be but lots of turtles grow to more than a foot long. Keep that in consideration!

As big as possible. Most people end up building cages around 4' x 2'. You want to make it easy to clean.
