How do you know she's crying to be mated?

An 8 month old cat is equivalent to about a 12 year old human female. Pregnancy would have major physical problems and the cat would probably be unable to care for the kittens.

I took in a cat that had got pregnant at 8 months old and she almost died giving birth. (It took an emergency call to a vet plus a large prayer circle to save her life.) Then she had no clue how to be a mother. Luckily I had an older female cat who stepped in, cuffed her round the ear, dragged her into her nest and lined the kittens up along their mother's nipples, and then blocked the exit until the kittens were fed! The surrogate grandma then kept a close watch on the little family until the kittens were old enough to be given to new homes.

So I hope that has answered your question. Good luck with your cat.

If you want to breed cats, wait until she is about 15-18 months old.

If you do NOT want to breed cats, have her spayed at the first possible opportunity.

She's a baby! Would you let an 8 year old girl have babies just because she was physically capable?

This cat is overdue for being spayed. It can be done while she's in heat so get her booked in now. There is NO REASON to breed your cat in this day and age, we've already created far, far too many. If you find homes for any kittens she produces then you're taking homes desperately needed for cats in shelters.

If you have her spayed she will no longer be desperate to mate and you will have protected her future health my saving her from mammary and ovarian cancer. Think of the cat's future.

There are websites that will give you a rough idea of your cats age in human years; having a litter at 8 months is like asking a 13 year old child to have a baby. Its just too much for them, physically and emotionally.
Also, its a good idea to have homes lined up for at least 8 kittens before you breed. The RSPCA alone has to put down around 2,000 cats a week because there are too many moggies being bred and not enough homes for them.

Why on earth do you want to let your cat have kittens? Do you know how many unwanted cats and kittens there are in the world?
A better idea is to take her to the vet and have her spayed. There is NO reason why she needs to be bred.

No, don't. She isn't fully grown(that will be at about 1yr old) and besides, there are far too many kittens in need of good homes, without you thinking of adding to it.

Have her neutered. She will be happier and healthier, and your vet will advise you

hi kelly. i am an orphaned kitten rescuer. i am $10,000 in debt from taking homeless, orphaned kittens out of the shelter (before they are put to sleep), from basements, courtyards, etc.

please understand that for every kitten whom your cat gives birth to and you find a home for, a homeless kitten will die because YOU filled that home with your kitten and the people did not go to the shelter to save a life.

the majority of these kittens are born because their parents do not have a home who has spayed or neutered them. nature allows each homeless animal, when times are tough and there is not alot of food, water or shelter available, LARGER litters because nature knows that the majority of them will not survive. they have no caretaker to prevent this endless cycle.

YOU however can help a litter of kittens whom you have never and will never even meet. you can have your cat spayed and each and every home who would have adopted them from you, can go to the city or town shelter and save the life of a kitten whose mother did not have someone taking care of her as your cat does.

kelly, if you were ever in the terrible position of being a cat or kitten rescuer and had to walk the euthanasia line of cages holding kittens, cats, puppies and dogs on the (kill) list in your own city or town shelter, knowing that you, as a rescuer, only had room in your home to rescue 2 or 3 cats that day which can be adopted out into new homes by you (no matter how long it took) it would tear you apart. day after day. even as you walk the line, still, you look into the eyes of all of the rest, all of the ones you have no more room to take, knowing in your heart and soul that the ones that you couldnt take that day (and every day) were going to be killed, you ache. you know that they have NO home, no one to love them, no one to care and you walk, passing cage after cage of animals you havent got enough room to save, silently trying to apologize to them because you cant take them all. silently trying to understand why these beautiful, sweet animals must die while other humans continue to breed and buy.

you silently tell them youre sorry. you silently tell them it's not their fault. you silently tell them goodbye.

the innocent lives of these animals, taken from this earth because humans have neglected to recognize that they are worthy of love and companionship. love and companionship that they so desperately want to give. they have done nothing wrong, committed no crime other than not having someone to love and care for them even now, the last hour of their lives. im telling you kelly, it would tear your heart apart.

so, do you see? for every kitten you allow your cat to give birth to, a different kitten dies because your kitten took its only chance for a home and a life (which could have been prevented by spaying your cat).

please spay your cat kelly.

thanks for listening
